As to yesterday's inquiry re the broken bed....sorry to burst your prurient bubble, Witchy, but the headboard was done in by little ones jumping around. No damage was done by adult gymnastics.

I was amazed at how green-blue the water was and that this small area essentially drains the whole of the four upper Great Lakes. So many people standing around just to watch water flow over a rock ledge in a couple places, but once you're there, taking it all in it's still magnificent.

Shiela, I hope you're staying at the Canyon at least one night. I remember getting up in the morning and seeing the canyon as the sun rose.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them, Lest we forget

ANZAC Day - Lest we forget.

IN WATERS DEEP

In ocean wastes no poppies blow,
No crosses stand in ordered row,
There young hearts sleep… beneath the wave…
The spirited, the good, the brave,
But stars a constant vigil keep,
For them who lie beneath the deep.
‘Tis true More...

HalT- very much like that, I suppose. I've never been.
Shiela - what a magnificent destination for a milestone golden anniversary.
tom- yes. It's called Goat Island and it's the island that splits the cascade into the American and Canadian Falls.
DotCom - good point. It IS pretty deep rushing up to the edge.
jacalmi- thank you. My pleasure.

At our local ANZAC dawn service we learned why the service is held at dawn. Was not at all what I thought it was. The first ANZAC dawn service was held in Albany, WA in 1919 - fittingly the departure point for those going to fight. The service was held by the clergyman who also officiated at the departure service in 1914. Reverend Arthur Ernest White if anybody is interested
