Rola, we are on daylight savings time from April until almost the end of October. So is your time earlier than Eastern Australia (making it noon or later right now, I think?)?
 |  |
Hugh From Canberra - many thanks for the info. I got the original version (Pogues) as well as the one by John McDermott. It sent me off to the Wikipedia to learn more about 'Waltzing Matilda.' Absolutely facinating.

Jamie,
WA is 2 hours behind the Eastern States, 1 1/2 hr behind South Aust. when daylight savings start (End(?)Oct to Apr, we are 3 hours (SA - 2 1/2hr) behind. Queensland also do not have Daylight Savings so we remain 2 hrs behind them.
 |  |
Jamie.....when you go off Daylight Savings, Texas would be 14hrs behind Western Australia
 |  |
You are right.
 |  |
I guess what happens is that we are farther apart, but it ends up meaning we are really closer to the same time, just a day apart.

Very impressed with most everyones time. How do you crack the 5 mi?

Baz, I must have read that book about 35 years ago, probably more.Don't know if I was young and easily amused but found it very funny. The part I said your joke reminded me of, was when he was in a bar in I think Singapore, and the chick he was cracking onto turned out to have more parts than he More...

Jamie
yes, a little over 1/2 day apart...I go to bed you are having/finishing breakfast, You go to bed and I'm almost having lunch.....something like that

Judy from SD...you can come up to So. Oregon anytime you want and help me split wood on my wood splitter and I will even let you drive my tractor to go get the rounds that are piled on the other end of the property.....
That would be 489 miles straight up 395 thru Susanville. It really is a beautiful drive.
 |  |
Yep, and that means it is time for me to get to bed - have to try and get some work done tomorrow before it gets to hot.
Good visiting with you.
 |  |
Goodnight Jamie, nice chating with you. Sleep tight....

DAPLAP fr PA (and Judy fr Bendigo) and any others interested in 'And the Band Played Walzing Matilda' - it has a haunting tune that gets you in, but sorry I cant reproduce that here ...

The sad thing for me about the banana prices in Aust. is the fact that I prefer Carnarvon (North in West Aust) to Queensland ones. They are smaller, cheaper and I think they are a better flavour than the big Queensland ones, and I am supporting State produce.HOwever with the shortage of Queensland More...

Judy/Bendigo - very fitting 'nana tribute.
corky/ireland - loved yr light bulb!
jamie/texas - you may see i posted the matilda lyrics. I had them from a collegue who plays the song sometimes to a migrant esl class, so we can thank her for her researches.

The easiest way to learn about Eric Bogle, and get ALL of the lyrics to ALL of his songs is to Google him. If in Australia, click on Pages from Australia and hit I'm feeling lucky and there you are! And you will get the right words, and no Mondogreens!

DAVE: OMG ... you have your OWN wood splitter??? AND a tractor? I think I'm in love!! What a guy! What more could a girl want?!
 |  |
Judy from SD, Hi how are you.....how's the mountain retreat.......
looks like Rob & Nigel will be going to San Francisco for a couple of days while they are in SD
 |  |
2.04 - I'm going out with the Netball girls tonight, going to watch the Grand Final (which we missed once again) then off to dinner and finally when I get home I will watch the Aust v NZ game. Go Aussies!!!
 |  |
Hey, ROLA, I'm fine! Rob and Nigel's trip won't be a quick jaunt ... San Francisco is a long way away! I've only been there twice in my life! Will the trip there be for business or pleasure? We Southern Californians suffer culture shock when we visit S.F. ... mainly because Northern Californians don't think we have any! (Culture, that is!)
 |  |
Where in Thailand are you?
 |  |
Judy, the trip to SD is for business....... and the going to SF is also business (I think and am not sure of the duration) and yes Nigel does know the distance. He has decided to take Rob on this trip to the conference in SD, to thank him for all the work he has done over the last 18 months, and to introduce Rob to contacts over there.....who knows where this will lead to in the future

I bet it will take a lot longer for those prices to come down for the end user. I am always a little cynical, but I think the middle men will decide that this opportunity to make a lot of money will be too great, and the end-user and grower will once again get it in the neck.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain
One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rain storm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride.
Soaking wet, she decided to flag down More...
