Do I detect grumblings on here about my riddle??? Well has anyone else tried it? There have been cases of riddles being impossible to solve before, so this might be one of those!

How's your part of France, Fiona?

I want to do your riddle Fiona. It looks real good. But - grumble grumble - my back is crumbling and distracting me from doing anything - especially anything resembling 'thought'.

I'll give it a try now Fiona and try to get back to you before changeover. Got to eat first though.

Fiona, we had hailstones last Friday Morning, while I was driving along with the squally winds, thunder, lightening and heavy rain..
It could have waited at least another 10 mins and I would have been home!!!

No, we are living in a low cloud of permanent drizzle. Not heavy enough to water the garden or really need an umbrella but enough to keep the washing wet and ruin hair etc.

Oh Rayray you sound really down with that back pain. Unfortunately we can only sympathise, but know that a great many of us wish you well and a speedy improvement. You are one of the posters whose name I never 'skim' over your posts are always worth a read. Take care.

not the same Ian - irony can be funny, sarcasm is never intended to make people laugh.

I think sarcasm has to have a specific, individual target, and has to be mean-spirited. If it's just a comment about general things, no matter how critical, it's more in the realm of satiric or ironic.

This may be one of those rare times when precision in language can (ironically) be an obstruction. The issue is not whether something is technically labeled 'sarcastic' or 'ironic,' but whether the comment itself is meant to hurt or not, to be nasty or to poke gentle fun. If either one is obvious and clear, the label is meaningless.

The heavy rain has arrived just as Steven was demolishing a lean-to garage. The dust he was covered in is now wet - not a happy chappy! His favourite lunch of Baked Beans on toast is called for!

Agreed, Ian, but in the recent past there were several comments made about some postings and always aimed at the same person.
