Loved Quebéc City! I painted a watercolor of one of their sidewalk cafés. It's the fifth one on 'Debby from Michigan's' site, I think.

Hello Shiela - I think I need to go to bed.
I played badminton this evening for the first time in about 5 weeks and my shoulder is now playing up a bit. It was very hot and humid today after a very heavy fog here this morning. Quite unusual for Albany at this time of the year so it was extra More...

Hey, we have a foursome. Tennis or badminton, anyone?

Don't you just love it when the body reminds us that we are not immortal?

I'll have a go at tennis, Jane. Something I used to play when I was a teenager and enjoyed it more than badminton at that age.

Well, I'd better say good night now.

Think it's too late to learn, Jane?
Actually i hate sports where balls are coming at me! That's why I instead ran competatively for 12 years for exercise.

And for fun!

Isn't that strange, Anne? I learned badminton in high school (the REAL badminton that you play - not what most people here play in their backyards) as a teenager and not tennis because the high school in the small town where I grew up had no courts! I didn't start playing tennis until I was in my 40s. Don't know how I ever lived without it!

I started running when I was in my 30's to get a little 'me' time away from kiddies. Actually came in 3rd overall woman in one race! (Small race!)

Shiela - it's NEVER too late to learn a sport! I used to run 10 miles a day until my ankles started to protest; then I got hooked on racquetball and played that for years until my hubby and I started a business that took us overseas on a regular basis. Since you can rarely find racquetball courts More...

What was your catalyst, Jane?

Little late on my question, huh?

Congrats, Jane! Looks like you still have some speed!

Shiela - I never really had a catalyst. I've just always loved sports.

Guess it's the competitiveness in me, hehehehe

I quit because I just got too hot running! ...Ever try to run though a hot flash? (Sorry, guys!) Would love to take it up again, but injured my ankle hiking!
28/Mar/09 12:41 AM

I never thought I was competitive until I started running! (I have lots of medals to prove it!) I usually avoided competition, but I guess it was more like competing with myself. Less pressure that way!

I want to report the results of my chocolate-orange Jello poke cake: BLECH!

Even with the fresh orange juice, grated orange rind and chocolate chips, the boxed-cake-mix taste was still discernible, so I guess I'll just have to stick with baking from scratch. Oh well, it was worth the More...

Good morning. I thought all my troubles with the computer were the sites fault, but even tho I have 2 gigabytes of rom, I only have 35 megabits of ram. Now if I can just find someone to fix this.

Is the UNIVERSE LOGICAL?
(Ray Groves; 27th March 2009)
I wonder and I ponder about this strange, mysterious world -
with its kaleidoscopic visions that daily are unfurled.
As dawn breaks on creation, to renew our sights and sounds,
refreshed minds awaken within their More...

Shiela - I found that running was much more competitive than any other sport because I was competing against myself. I was always trying to improve my speed or adding an extra half mile each day. That's why I blew my ankles (and my knees also started to go). I didn't know when to stop!!! I More...

Rayray - my befuddled "morning brain" can't cope with your poem just yet. I'll have to re-read it this afternoon. Or at least after I've had my coffee!!! See you later...

Oh, Shiela - yes, it was a chocolate cake mix and orange Jello.

Shiela:
The thing I noticed most during my past visit to CA was the dearth of old (historic) buildings. To the Europewan eye it makes towns appear superficial - which may or may not be a true impression, but that is the immediate subjective impact.

Congrats, Jane! My PR was breaking a 45 minute time in a 10K and a 6 minute mile.
