Hello Everyone! I just had to join today so I could send congratulations to Jill. I found the jigsaw site several months ago and then found the sudoko site from there. I feel like I already know so many of you. Also want to send wishes of a long and happy marriage to Billy.

Welcome, Mari.Oh.USA! Are the dots pronounced or silent?
29/May/09 8:13 AM

In the state Fiona is obviously in pronouncing or not pronouncing dots could prove difficult.

I think you may possumbly be correct, Baz and from.

Very good, Dorthea, very good.

Glinda, very good. Tom Lehrer used to talk about his friend, Hen3ry. The '3' was silent...

Keith, I'm not so sure you are on the right track with your breakdown-of-sudoku.com.au hypothesis. Personally, I don't see any difference in the site overall except for the password and secret handshake bidness. The contrast I see is in the personality of the site brought on by the difference in More...

What I like about the site is the variety of people & their unique perspectives. I often just glance at the picture after the puzzle, then I read a comment that makes me go back & have another, much closer look! Today I learned about possums. If I had to list the marsupials in Aus. I would More...

Does everyone realize that this is like flogging a dead horse, as I tried to do for many months (to no avail). Every person who posts on this site could find some fault to point to and/or complain about if they wanted to, from not enough smiles, to repeat pictures, to occasional server problems, More...

Greg, consider this: the underlying, vague discontent, and the desire for improvement here, seems to be the basis for a (vague, unspoken) agreement among myself, Glinda, Keith and GannieMo. That itself is extraordinary. Several others have more or less conceded that there is some validity to the question.

Do you wish to quash that exploration?

29/May/09 9:04 AM
 |  |

IAN, I'm not trying to quash anything. I am trying to remind everyone that this is a game site, and Gath will only devote so much time to it, especially now that he has entered into a new career and he has a family to concern himself about. Go for it, but don't expect what you want will be achievable.

Good morning all -
Has Billy's party been hi-jacked? The guests have gone before we Aussies even get here.
Welcome to Mari.Oh.USA - stay with us, it really is great!
to Lauren, Mindy and Fritzerman. Enjoy your day.
Plum - sorry for missing you on that list - have sent you an apology.

Hi Glinda ... hmmmm, Are the dots pronounced or silent? you ask ... Well, truthfully, I don't know. I couldn't remember if there is another just plain Mari so I just added the Oh for Ohio and the USA for USA. Didn't look ahead to see I would be asked where I'm from on the very next line. That may More...

I'm not sure where to jump in to today's discussion. I'm not here nearly as often as I used to. This used to be a regular everyday pitstop on my road of website folks to check in with, join a hot topic, or just see what the weather was like. I guess I'll have to make some time tonight to read back the last couple days to see what's brewing.

There is no easy answer to the question of whether the site was/is better now or then. Every new person commenting adds a different flavour to this site. Do you suggest we stop new comers from entering the fun? or invite back all the old-timers (both good and bad)?. We can't stop the site from More...

Greg, the horse I'm thinking about is far from dead. There are still some very ugly things going on here that are causing grave damage to the site. To be a bit more blunt, I was requesting that people that have been hurt here make it clear to Gath who hurt them and how. People that seldom post any More...

"However, without this stand up kind of action, there's a very real possibility that the site will wither like an Autumn leaf."

After that kind of admonition, what exactly are the "very ugly things going on here that are causing grave damage to the site." ?

I tried to put Leonard Cohen's 'Dance me to the end of love' on my YouTube for Billy and got frustrated at every turn and gave up - so could you all please hum it loudly for Billy and her Prof. Thank you!

No, but you can certainly describe conduct, and those who are guilty of it will recognize themselves, and either modify that conduct or defend themselves. But is that a confrontation some people would rather avoid at all costs? Is that 'stand-up?'

29/May/09 10:37 AM
 |  |

I like it, always have, always will.
29/May/09 10:43 AM
 |  |

The guilty know. They're even proud of it. The ones avoiding the confrontation at all costs are the ones that have been driven away. They are the entire site's loss.

By the way, on my Flickr photostream, page 13, row 3, there's a picture of me with my first Beavertail. It was smeared with chocolate and had powdered sugar sprinkled on top. It is worth the trip to Canada.

Yes. But of course, one person's perception of 'the guilty' may be the opposite of another's. Sometimes, you just have to voice which is yours...to stand up, as it were.

There is a 70th variety of possum in Australia. These are Dame Edna Everage possums which seem to inhabit the audience of her shows and with whom she regularly converses.
29/May/09 11:04 AM

I didn't realise that there were 69 species of possum in Australia et al but that probable accounts for their fecundity.
