G'day mates,here's today's daffynition:
CLASSIC: A book which people praise, but do not read.

..And here's today's factoid:
Chickens can live as long as 14 years.

I'd like to know if, to date, there has been any one factoid that stands out as significant or memorable to you, and if so, which one.

Kayo, jamie, Phantom, Shiela, & all the rest!

It was nice to see Phantom's summary first thing this morning! And by the way, I finally caught up on the rest of the summaries I missed. Loved the comment about Rob being detained by the KGB! Thanks again to Karen for keeping everyone posted on my whereabouts during my absence.

And there's Hal! Hope your arm heals fast, but old bones, well, you know.......

To answer Phantom's question, we are down to only one fan & the dehumidifier in one corner of the family room. The rest of the dry wall seems to finally be dry again!

Karen... your Cheetah story is hilarious!
Kids are funny. I have a beautiful German doll in one of my bedrooms. Even though he has stayed there several times, the last time my 3 year-old grandson stayed overnight he asked me to move the doll because, 'It's creepy!'. Where does a 3 year-old get 'creepy'???

And there's shosho! Good morning out there in sunny CA.
Now I'd better get going. Meeting some old friends for lunch today. Have a few souvenirs from our trip for them & will show them our new book & the special insert!!

Ah, Kayo - you do present a dilemma. I have chosen: 'According to mathematicians, the billionth digit of pi is 9,' and plan to prove it before I die.

Shiela, my Grandma had a doll that creeped everyone out, too. Mom got the doll after Grandma died. At the moment, no one knows where that doll is, I think one of my aunts took it.

We have a doll that resembles Chucky, the doll gives me the creeps too.

Hi Karen, Kathy, Daplap, and Shiela! Well I'm heading out to an exciting workshop for math coaching (where is that sarcastic key when you need one).

I have been informed, by Thing II, that today is my birthday. She has prepared me a pretend cake, which I have been blowing out candles on, for the past hour, she has given me a little ball, that belongs on a hand game and told to put my feet up and rest.

Oh, Shosho, I know the feeling, of not being able to let go of the school, when you are out. Maybe, when you go up to the school, you should get all the cut outs, that the teachers have to do, because there is not enough time in class.
I am not doing much, but it makes me feel like I am a little bit involved.
03/Oct/12 12:35 AM
 |  |

There is a committee meeting this afternoon, for the Fall School schedule, I have no idea what this for, but I will be up.

This years teacher, is not going to keep me being involved. I now, have two teachers, sending me cut out stuff and on has not responded, but she used me last year and praised that I saved her a lot of time.
03/Oct/12 12:39 AM
 |  |

Now, to attempt to finish reading the manual, to find out, what the meeting today is about.

I think some teachers are very inventive at finding 'projects' for the volunteer mothers when they really don't want those mothers involved. I have a terrible southern accent and was asked to do some reading recordings - at a Kansas City school! Even I had to laugh at that one.

Another blah day, It's dark, rainy and I'm still hurting. Thank goodness I rescheduled the epidural and it's now only 6 days from now instead of 6 weeks. At least the pain from the infected tooth is gone.

I was the opposite from shosho about retirement. I didn't set foot on a school campus for 5 years after I retired. I loved teaching while I was doing it, but after I quit, I never looked back.

Good Maen all!
So fun getting to read Phantom's recap.
03/Oct/12 1:57 AM

Keith - I definitely understand your sentiments. I, however, retired primarily due to frustration with the state and local hierarchies. I still love working with the kids, so my situation is wonderful for me right now. The minute I don't feel that way, I will not be back.
shosho - your sarcasm cut me to the quick. What could be more fun!?!?

I must have missed yesterday's posts, so thanks to Phanty, I will go back and find out what's going on with that mysterious cheetah Karen has been telling us about...

Well, I finished reading the manual and learned nothing about this school committee, I went to the school web site, zilch.
So, I went back to the 3 or 4 notes that have been sent home and I did learn something. I learned, the meeting is not today, which would be good for me, it is tomorrow, which timing is going to be tight.

Working on cutting out the third costume. The pattern company, in its infinite wisdom, went from a child's size 8 to adult sizes. My girl is about a child 10-12. I bought the adult size and sized it down. I will be doing the same thing for her sister.
