Susan - My wife once worked for the PMG (Telstra)as a switchboard operator and when she married me had to give up her job.

The Defence Forces also once used to pay a marriage allowance to married men and you had to allot a certain amount to your wife.

Also the Defence Forces used to have certain jobs that were for men only.

Cathy, when my cat, Bonzu, had to have a bath, we had to grab his front paws and pull them down to his tummy and then wrap his with an old towel. That way we could wash his head and bottom without a scratch. The rest of his body was merely wetted because wrapping the towel meant a tasmanian devil whirlwind with sharpened claws. But at least he didn't suffer of fleas.

Thanks for your replies re gender equity in the workplace. I'm only talking about jobs where there was a law that discriminated according to gender, like as Hugh said certain jobs in the defence forces were only open to males, and his wife being forced to give up her job on marriage. Son #2 is doing a 5km cross country today. Last year he came second in his age group at school, being beaten by a couple of seconds. That boy has left the school, so fingers crossed for my boy. He's about to race in 7 minutes, so will him on please!!!!!!!!!!

Just went for a quick drive up to the cross country track, Son is coming first in his age group by a few hundred metres - half way through the race, and third in the school. He's in Year 9, school is Year 8s to 12s. When he ran past me he said, 'Oh go home Mum'. I'm home! He gets embarrassed easily.
Digs, go for it, I'm not fussy.
Goooooooooooooo Sonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!
