Hello all,
I'm posting 2 days in a row.... Look out world! Tomorrow is my short stacks last day of school. Then the following day is the older 2's last day, followed by my short stacks B-day on Friday. I can't believe my baby will be 5 in three days! Going shopping tomorrow for it, ugh. I have NO idea what I will be getting him.

Kathy- what is a pop top can in English?

Eve - re yesterday's comment. I believe I took the quiz for, ahem, elderly people. Do you perhaps still have it? If so, would you send it to me in PM, please. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I believe I knew most of the answers.

Oh--and I wanted to add. In 1952, my dad was still cooking, though not born until Aug.

Good morning all! Definitely a way to be different... I like the pink ears!

Why Fiona! You've never "popped the top" on a can of beer??? They don't have pop (aka tab) tops in France? Poor thing!
04/Jun/08 5:53 AM
 |  |

ring pulls, Kathy, ring pulls!! And I prefer a bottle!! No comparing the taste of beer from a can and from a bottle!
04/Jun/08 5:56 AM
 |  |

Ahhh, she's a purist! No tinny tasting beer for our Fiona!

yuck!! Anyway time for my bed, busy day tomorrow - kids don't go to school on Wednesdays here, but they do every activity under the sun instead - so will be putting on my taxi driver hat again - first departure at 9.30! Have a good day everyone!

Nope, ring pulls are something different.
Let me enlighten you.
You are holding a can of some tinny tasting beer. On the top of said can is a little lever looking thingy. You pull it up, then push it down, and TA DA! You've opened it and are ready to slug it down. Glug. Glug.

What you just described, Kathy, is a ring pull, this side of the pond.

I must follow Fiona's example and get off to bed. I have a medical appointment in town at 08.30 tomorrow.

Why is it I have no trouble getting up with the lark when I've nowhere to go, but give me an appointment early and I could sleep till noon.

Good Morning everyone.
Rain still hanging around here, everything is soaked.
I managed to get on the computer before son does.
I am now going to print off the puzzles so I can
attempt them today.
Love the witty dialogue on this site.
Trouble is I can never think of any myself !!!
Have a great day everyone.

I think I may wade into the ring top/ pull tab question, tho' it IS getting a bit deep in here. Kathy... What are you talking about???? I do not know of 2 types, only one.
04/Jun/08 8:13 AM

This is embarrassing. I just remembered the other kind. One, you grab the ring and pull it and the tab off the can. The other, you grab the ring, lift up until the tab punched into the can, then fold the ring back down again. It's been so long since I have seen the first that I forgot about it. I hate that.
