There is a little sliver of the puzzle peeking out of the bottom of the picture. Has it always been this way? I have never noticed it before but it's there in the archives also.

DotCom - you have such a keen ability to notice and analyze little details! So cool. Yes, I see it too now that you point it out. I don't know if it's always been there. It appears to me to be similar to a drop shadow but I think you're right and it's a bit of the puzzle frame.

I'm with Anne. Very slow on both Medium and Easy. AND, I just got out of bed an hour or so ago! No excuse for me I guess.

This was Echis. The photo dates from the early 80's. He died in 1992. I used to use the picture in lab exams asking students to identify the five mammal characteristics visible in the picture.

I have been painting a winter scene in watercolors - appropriate for the season - of a Cardinal on icy covered branches. The red of the Cardinal was the most challenging part. I think I used 6 different reds. (I have found that reds do not 'play well' together.)

You can't trust the weather forecasters. The 'mild' spell will turn into minus mid-20's later today for several days!

Well, I'm here, so why not?

Bev - what are the 5 mammalian characteristics you were looking for your students to provide for you?
05/Jan/18 6:32 AM

Speaking of cats ... and cold ... remember that list I'm developing to stay positive in winter? Add to it how entertaining the pet cats are when they can't expend their energy out of doors so instead run and pounce and play with each other indoors.

CG - this abnormal 'bomb cyclone' is a game changer. I think half the continent's 10-14 day forecasts have changed for the worse. (I say abnormal because while bomb cyclones are normal every winter this one's placement and sphere of effects is out of the ordinary.)

Shiela - 'Reds don't play well together' makes me laugh because I've had the same reaction sometimes with blues or greens or browns. I've read that because photo receptor cones for color differ in each eye that many people see colors slightly differently with one eye than another. Does this happen More...

Thanks for that referral Sarah, it's from my home town and it's really weird that only some straight lines in the photo are wobbly but most are straight. What kind of a lens would do such a thing? I never saw an iguana around here.

I Googled 'iguanas falling out of trees' under videos and it's the same story. Perhaps the wobbly lines are caused by the water being warmer than the air, like a desert mirage, only in the cold instead of heat waves. You're never too old to learn something new.
