We will be traveling again today. I have no idea if we will be able to see any fire works tonight, oh well the vacation has been great.

I may dunk myself, Shiela. The family farm we've been tending has an inground pool. I've been trying to get the chemistry adjusted after all the rain we've had. I think I have it just right now. I'll have to check, won't I?

For Dottie, and anyone else who cares. We are going through New Mexico because of the fires in Colorado. When we were planning the trip the fires were where we wanted to go, so had to change the route we would have to take.

We will be going up through the panhandle of Oklahoma, don't expect much but it is somewhere we have never been.

Happy 4th, friends south of the border!

Sue - when Burl and I visited Amarillo we enjoyed Palo Duro canyon and a museum about the West (and saw a ZZTop concert - yeah, it's been awhile.)

After 5 deployments in the Marines (which the last 3 in infantry) I worry about my son's mental state. So far he has done well, went back to college and is a straight A student. Now he's trying to get into hubby and my alma mater! He will get in and become the third generation of our family at UCLA!

Plum, you went to bed before I posted how I wished I could be in Michigan in spring! To see fields of lily of the valley - WOW! It's my most favorite flower besides being my birth month flower. I love the fragrance. Can't grow it here. Buy a plant it blossoms, then that's it, no more.

Hi Heidi. We still have a bit of our June gloom - the coastal fog and cloud cover. But the heat wave is burning it off earlier and earlier each day. At least we get sunshine in the afternoons. Before it could be cloudy all day with no blue skies at all.

I thought I'd create a special 4th of July poozle for today, not to tread on Greg's toes. Just wanted to go with the theme. Answers to my '1776 Inbox':

Add together the following numbers:

(a) The number of signers of the Declaration of Independence
(b) The number of states More...

But with the heat wave we're getting up to high 80's possible 90's along the coastline and inland it's 90's into the 100's! I'm a couple of miles from the beach.

I love the aroma of Lily of the Valley, too, but I won't grow them here. They're poisonous to dogs.

My darlings are making their TV debut today, maybe. The cameraman is getting more of the road than the floats.
Supposed to be a great parade, but so far all I have seen is cars and trucks with flags on them.

shosho - I noticed your post when I went back to count USA posters on Easy yesterday for my puzzle (above). Our lily of the valley usually bloom between my birthday (April 29) and Mother's Day. It depends on what kind of spring we're having. Our patch has naturalized in the deep shade of the More...

A case can really be made, however, for visiting this time of year. I love the late sunsets up here and the twilights full of lightning bugs (fireflies). A Californian like you could handle the heat, but the humidity would be miserable.

Oh, but the late summer and early autumn is the season prized by so many people for visiting Michigan.

Well, maybe he figured it out by now, but in 2008 he said there were 59. He actually said he'd been in 57 states with one left to go - Alaska and Hawaii.
