INDEPENDENCE DAY! (a bit late - sorry)
Off early to the shelter to care for the overcrowed cats.
Hope everyone had a safe and sane 4th celebration. We had bbq burgers and corn - strawberry short cake for dessert...and watched lots of baseball! How much more American can it get???

What Keith said...

Great summary! Thank you Phantom. Well done.

It is supposed to get really hot here again today. I'm going out to work on the yard early, then back to the job hunt grind, then sewing my quilt top.

TM is on his own today. He is in the doghouse.

Heating up here, too, Sarah Beth.
YUCK! Think I'll work at cleaning out my pond...that should keep me cooled down.

I spent a while trying to see the ray ... still not sure.

I wish it was heating up here, gale force winds and a severe weather warning current. The 4th cold front in a couple of days is heading in and the winds are coming straight from the Antarctic.

Happy Tuesday!
Be safe, Tricia: that sounds like really severe weather!
06/Jul/11 12:24 AM

Take good care, Tricia.
Keith - I couldn't make out the ray, either.

An electric blanket and a fluffy wool doona await. I am not leaving the house for another 10 hours so all will be well. Goodnight All.

This must be a two pot morning. It will take that long to thoroughly digest The Phantom's Annual Summary.
06/Jul/11 12:55 AM

The Phantom Has set the bar. For all but a very few, his annual summary. is going to be “one tough act to follow”. I for one am, on a near daily basis, amazed by his “tongue in cheek” wit, and mastery of the English Language, including a variety of dialects. (How do he keep track?)

ONYA, MATE, YA DID GOOD! THANK YOU!

HI all! It's quiet today. Hi Jerry, good to see the coffee pot again. Yesterday's poozle winners gave me 1.IMPALA,2=Accord 3= Regal 4=Passat 5=Corolla.
Well done to Kathy, Mr C, Phanty, Sarah, Sue, Plum, CG, Capt J, lonewoof and HEIDI!!

I took a quick glance at that one, Fiona, and didn't even try it. I've never been good with car names.

But we are getting close.

Here's today's one for you to ponder. Answers to the Parisian corner inbox please!

I am not a king, I am not a queen
But most of you will bow when I'm seen
Currently I am resting on my side
But soon I will continue my stride
I can't walk, run, fly or crawl
Yet I am the greatest traveller of all
06/Jul/11 1:18 AM
 |  |

... very close.
06/Jul/11 1:18 AM

um ... closer than that.

I've been squeezed by Keith!

What an effort! An amazing review of all our foibles!
Here's to another year, Phanty!

Oh, excuse me. I didn't mean to interrupt Keith and Fiona. Carry on....
06/Jul/11 1:26 AM

Squeezing done? Okay.

I couldn't see the sting ray, either.

in to say Hi and get my fix of daily puzzle - as I was in St. Louis, I had to finally pick up a book of sudoku - they had a puzzle style called Loco Sudoku -- still the same pattern but the boxes were all different shapes.
06/Jul/11 1:28 AM
 |  |

they had Sting rays at the St. Louis Zoo also - we had them up at Brookfield Zoo couple years ago - very easy flow of movement.

Jerry's back!

I can think of several things that fit the poozle, except for that second clue!
That is going to drive me

Back to my "Seymour, the summertime bat".
He's dressed appropriately for the weather here. You know it's going to be hot when the temp is 90° at 9 am!
06/Jul/11 1:57 AM
 |  |

Is that about 32° C? I'm not very adept at conversion.

Phantom made an error. I haven't drunk wine all year.

Good mAen, good people. I've been on the site almost an hour and haven't yet said "Hello." Happy Anniversary, Phantom, with fond hopes of many more anniversaries to come.

Once while I was swimming in the sea in North Australia, a large sting-ray leapt out of the water about 2 metres away from me, then crashed back into the sea and disappeared. I fancy it must have known my name was Ray and wanted to introduce itself. Maybe that is where the name Rayray originated ?
06/Jul/11 2:27 AM

This is a tough one, Fiona. That second clue is driving ME batty, too.

all from sunny So. Oregon - at least it is not as hot as So. Cal. Tomorrow at Britt is Ted Nugent - so I'm calling this a long "Independence Weekend".
