Marylinn - I'm glad you were accepted into the medical volunteer program, and I hope a favorable diagnosis can be made soon. Not knowing what's wrong adds so much to a person's stress level. And, yes, I would definitely have the dishes tested for lead. Good luck! We're all hoping for the best for you!

In answer to several comments about hurricanes on the Outer Banks, check out the following website which features aerial photograpy of the aftermath of Hurricane Isabel in October, 2003. We were in the Outer Banks the month prior! Also, after decimating the Banks, Isabel moved inland and smashed More...

Oops! I meant to say Isabel struck the Outer Banks in September (the 18th). We were there the two weeks prior - but we were on the north end which wasn't as badly damaged as Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands.
