Good Maen, good people. fii, like your sunrise avatar.

I'm off to see a free movie. Goodrich Quality Theatres (cinemas) has free kids movies in the spring and fall. Then they make a fortune on concessions. But popcorn and soft drinks are less important when you're going to the early morning show. Today's movie - Despicable Me.

Is there ever bad weather in Sydney Harbor? You couldn't tell by all the fair weather photos posted on this site! One thing about living on the great lakes is that I have to keep reminding myself that this is a salt water Harbor.

to all. Hello my good friend, Grass-hopper. We are to have beautiful weather again today in Middle Tennessee. BUT, by tomorrow it will be rainy and cool. We really do need rain so there will be no complaints from me. We have had a long hot summer and a beautiful fall.

I will be heading around and down to Australia in January so I will be enjoying two summers again this year/next year. However that works out.? The time difference is hard enough to figure. I brain has a hard time computing the difference in the seasons.

Maen all. Hope you are having a wonderful day wherever you are.
Phantom, I believe the new "politically correct" description for blonde jokes is "a person with a particular hair colour"!

Grass-hopper, I am looking forward to staying with the family and being with the grandchildren. I do hope the summer will be mild in S.A. this year. The wild fires scare me.

The worse possible situation would be to have to get the children in the car with the steering wheel on the right side of the car, then drive on the left side of the road someplace.. I have no idea where, nor do I know how to get there!

Sorry about yesterday, Viv! You must have been posting at the same time as me - didn't realise anyone was about.

Depends on where in SA Gma Jackie. It's been a good winter and the drought has broken somewhat so that means lots of growth in parts of SA--where there's bush and farms.

Adelaide can get hot and yes bushfires are a part of life for those there. We worried about tornadoes while we were in the states and thankfully didn't see any. We will hope you enjoy your stay over here.Let us know the dates you will be over here and you never know.Mister lived in Adelaide for two More...

Jackie, you will be fine. Just learn your fire escape plan, have a practice and don't stress. I am sure that if there is a significant fire threat your family will evacuate early. After last year everyone is being well prepared for this summer, and that is what it is all about.
14/Nov/10 12:50 AM
 |  |
Gma Jackie You sound really worried--will you be in rural areas or towns/cities--the situation is very different according to where you are.
14/Nov/10 12:51 AM
 |  |

Ah the steering wheel problem.Know it well. Also the getting lost in a strange land.
14/Nov/10 12:51 AM

SA avoided bad fires last year by having all known arsonists under observation (yep--some of them are deliberate--beyond belief) and everyone in a rural area is encouraged to have proper plans for managing fire. Adelaide has some suburbs (in what is known as 'The Hills')which are vulnerable but the rest of it is safe.

Ceri, their home is up in the hills. I do plan on getting the son to go driving with me again this year. I should be a bit more sure of myself this year and know my way out of their little town into a larger town. Lurker, you gave good advise... I do plan to do just that.
14/Nov/10 1:00 AM
 |  |
Ceri, I am sure you know, some here in the states also deliberatly set fires. You have to wonder about those "someones".
14/Nov/10 1:03 AM
 |  |

Don't spend your time worrying Jackie - it will spoil your visit. If they are in a little town there is always a great sense of community and people will be there to help if there is a fire. Our fire fighting volunteers do an amazing job of protecting us, and last year was really an aberration - More...

Grass-hopper, I will send you those dates. Would love to see you again.

Throughout the hills they've established 'safe places' to go to if concerned--going for practice runs with your son sounds like a great idea--hope you enjoy yourself--I reckon you'll be fine.
