Doing puzzles late at night is not a good way to beat your best time...

everyone hope you all have a great day.

Just waiting for daughter no 1 to come home from her part time job. She works for Hungry Jacks and I have a question for you all.
Do you think its OK for a 16yo to be working a closing shift. 6 till midnight? especially on a school night?

Morning all. Up tonight at work, so will check in on and off.

I may have to do it again after I wake up in the morning. And on that note, I'm off to bed. Don't work tomorrow, so have a bit of a leasurly morning. g'nite

No, Angie - I wouldn't be happy with that. Think midnight is too late on a school night.

1:51 Maen Looks like the triple-chair lift at what used to be called Ski Acres, at Snoqualmie Pass in Washington State. Is it?

No I don't. Remove her from there pronto. Is possibly the rest of her life worth this part time job?
15/Mar/07 12:09 AM

Good Maen!! I also did it in 2.16 at 8:14am Oklahoma time. That's a nice shot. Skiing is a blast, but right now, I'm looking forward to seeing my flowers bloom.

Angie, when I was 16 I was usually still up reading or listening to music (quietly on my stereo) past midnight, so you need to ask - is she getting too tired,if so, then no, it would be more important to sleep to be alert at school, but if she is a night owl, then maybe it is not such a bad thing. More...

Angie, NO!! That is a horrible schedule for a high school student who has to be in class the next morning. Is the work schedule affecting her ability to get studying done and keeping grades up? Employers should be sensitive to that stuff.
15/Mar/07 12:13 AM
 |  |
Also it is important to consider what level at school she is at. HSC is an important step for Uni, so preference should be given to study then.

Oh! How pretty. Where was this picture taken?

Angie/Melb - I am surprised that a place of business would work a 16 year old until midnight. Do you have any laws pertaining to the employment of minors? I guess it would depend, also, on what time she has to get up in the morning for school. Changing diapers was so much easier than raising teenagers.

Well, I have already turned into a pumpkin, so I think I need to go and roll into bed. g'nit all

Angie, midnight is too late for a 16yo on a school night.

angie, from a teenagers age, which i am, but older, working until 12 is kinda pushing it. but it depends on how often she works a week. most teenagers dont go to sleep until abt 12 anyway why not just let her work if she wants to.

Looks very pretty but you wouldn't get me in one of those, they terrify me.

1:54, Angie, I have a 16 year old son and if he gets his grades up to where they should be he can have a job but he will be in by 10. After you get off at midnight you have to wind down to go to sleep, there isn't enough time. I worked parttime at a Pizza place years ago to pay off debts after a divorce, I could handle getting out at midnight, the teenage workers couldn't.

Geez, it has been years since I went skiing. But looking at all that powder on the slopes makes me miss it!

Angie, there should be something in the labor laws about a 16 year old working until 12m. I would not let my kids do it. There are other jobs out there.

Angie, I wouldn't let my son work at fast food places for that reason - made him stick to the $2 shop which 99% of the time was day work only, and never later than 9pm. That makes a 12 hour working day, way too much, as any high school teacher will tell you. I think the laws relating to early finishes are for 15 and younger Debby.

hey Bill got a special word for your ex!!
asymptote - SPECIAL
A math term for a curve on a graph that approaches a value, such as zero, and continues on to infinity without ever touching that value. It's special because it contains 'symp,' but not in the middle of the word where you usually More...

and another interesting word,a special one again..
anabasis - SPECIAL
It is the only word that defines itself, its opposite and something in-between. It means : to go forward, to retreat and to remain where you are, I think that's quite interesting....

Angie, when I was 16, I worked at a fast food place and liked having the extra money. It was a small town and low crime and 1976/77 so I felt pretty safe. (In fact never even thought of being robbed!) I was a good student and always made good grades but when the hours started conflicting with the More...

That's my way of enjoying winter - looking at pretty pictures!

Angie, my 16 yo daughter gets up at 6:15 AM for school; she goes to bed between 10 and 11PM, and I still think it is too late. At this age they really need their sleep. So - no, I wouldn't even consider it.

2:04 Hi to all. I think I maybe in an anabasis state ap! Lovely photo, crisp and clear.

Thought for the Day:

I have my own little world, but it's okay - they know me here.

ap, I get a different definition for anabasis.
1: a going or marching up : advance; especially : a military advance
2[from the retreat of Greek mercenaries in Asia Minor described in the Anabasis of Xenophon] : a difficult and dangerous military retreat
