A Thought For The Day: Common sense is like deodorant. The people who need it the most often don't use it. 17/Jan/14 12:00 AM |  |
 Good morning everyone. 17/Jan/14 12:00 AM |  |
G'day mates. Here's today's daffynition:pageant — calling insectAnd here's today's factoid:A new study shows that even ant pupae—a stage between larvae and adult—can communicate via sound, and that this communication can be crucial to their survival. 17/Jan/14 12:00 AM |  |
 Didn't quite get there Doug! 17/Jan/14 12:00 AM |  |
 How did that happen?????? 17/Jan/14 12:01 AM |  |
I'm glued to the TV tonight watching the Australian Open tennis. A young 18 year old Aussie lad (Nick Kyrgios) is playing against world number 28 (Benoit Paire). After being one break down, he ended up winning the first set in a tie break. Wooo Hoooo. Woops, we're into another tie break in the second set. 17/Jan/14 12:04 AM |  |
Hey that's nifty. On the Australian Open web site there's a 'Live Scores' tab. Once you click on that you get the live scores as it is being played. http://www.ausopen.com/index.html 17/Jan/14 12:06 AM |  |
I just watched the tie break on the TV. Kyrios won it again. That's 2 sets to zip. On that happy note I will bid you all farewell. 17/Jan/14 12:11 AM |  |
They look like fun looking for a place to happen. 17/Jan/14 1:04 AM |  |
all. Doug, glad to know there is another tennis fan among us! Do you play any yourself? I played a tough three setter yesterday. My partner & I ended up losing, but it was a really good match against two very nice ladies at a club in Tampa. Eight of us on the team went out to lunch afterward. Very enjoyable. 17/Jan/14 1:11 AM |  |
Right now Chase is napping & Rob & I are watching replays of yesterday's matches on the Tennis Channel. The young Aussie Kokkinakis who is playing Nadal has a very colorful outfit on!! I was glad to hear that there will be relief from the heat wave soon. 17/Jan/14 1:17 AM |  |
 all. 17/Jan/14 1:18 AM |  |
I read an article about play being suspended yesterday because of the heat. What brutal conditions to try to play tennis in. I believe this is the third day in a row Elijah has been on the Parent's Page. 17/Jan/14 1:22 AM |  |
Hope you get some sleep Doug. We were in Adelaide for a baseball tournament back in 1982 or there about and there was about a week of hot days and nights. Not much AC about then and sleep was impossible. Last night here it got down to about 18*c but it is warmer than that tonight. 17/Jan/14 1:23 AM |  |
Keith, Laura was on the parents page yesterday. We need more people to put photos on the Parents page. 17/Jan/14 1:26 AM |  |
Good Maen, good people. I wanted to get out to indoor walking this morning and it's snowing pretty hard. I'm trying to decide if I want to fight the white. 17/Jan/14 1:34 AM |  |
Senior moment, June. Now you say that, I remember. Perhaps it should be re-named the (Grand)Parent's Page. It could get flooded then. 17/Jan/14 1:36 AM |  |
Would that be at a local Mall, Plum? ... or a walking track at an exercise club? 17/Jan/14 1:38 AM |  |
 While I'm here ... 17/Jan/14 1:38 AM |  |
 We'll see who comes along. 17/Jan/14 1:38 AM |  |
 Anyone? 17/Jan/14 1:39 AM |  |
 17/Jan/14 1:39 AM |  |
No, at a local church with a gymnasium. A retired couple open it up a few days a week during the winter for the community's use. Now that I have a car I can drive into town during the day. 17/Jan/14 1:47 AM |  |
 shosho - what fun to do 1st grade science! 17/Jan/14 1:49 AM |  |
Damn! Poor young Nick Kyrgios ran out of stamina in the third set and started cramping. It was all down hill from there. He lost in 5 sets but he certainly did himself proud. I reckon that if he hits the gym a bit more and gets more experience playing professional opponents, he will one day be a force to be reckoned with. 17/Jan/14 1:49 AM |  |
Kathy - I have played tennis but not a lot. I used to be quite good at squash in my day but that's a while back now. I do however still rate myself as an armchair expert in both sports. 17/Jan/14 1:52 AM |  |
They had hot weather at the tennis today and some players were badly affected by it. That was followed by a thunderstorm which stopped play for 4 hours due to lightning. That, ladies and gentlemen is typical weather for Melbourne. Melbourne has a well earned reputation for being the only capital city in Australia which gets all 4 seasons of weather in one day. 17/Jan/14 1:57 AM |  |
Thought the first post of the day would of worn you out Doug.. is this the first one? 17/Jan/14 2:10 AM |  |
 2 fine looking doggies. 17/Jan/14 2:12 AM |  |

For Today: There was a wedding one day recently which had the following results. The father of a young woman became her husband’s brother-in law, and her husband’s sister became her stepmother. How did this happen? Answers to my ‘’odd relations’’ inbox please. 17/Jan/14 2:21 AM |  |
everyone! We finally have some sun shine today. It's depressing when you get days of overcast and rain. The car search yesterday was interesting. I found I wasn't comfortable driving the mid size Toyota Venza. I am, shall we say, More... 17/Jan/14 2:23 AM |  |
Keith, the last 5 pictures on the parent's page, counting today, were, Elijah, Elijah, Azariah, Laura, Elijah. 17/Jan/14 2:32 AM |  |

A couple of cute pups! Wonder what their names are? 17/Jan/14 3:23 AM |  |
It's not much, but at least I did a mile at a fairly peppy pace. Better than nothing. 17/Jan/14 3:28 AM |  |
Perhaps not a bad idea. How would it be like to pay speeding tickets according to your revenue per day? Those who earn less would pay cheaper fines, while millionaires would have to pay big bucks for their mistakes. 111,888 Euros for Speeding http://www.autoevolution.com/news/finnish-millionaire-fined-111888-euros-for-speeding-48 43.html 17/Jan/14 3:39 AM |  |
One step closer, for whoever. 17/Jan/14 3:39 AM |  |
The question is, are you being nice or setting yourself up to pounce? 17/Jan/14 3:45 AM |  |
 Is it possible? 17/Jan/14 3:58 AM |  |
