Early autumn in our photo today, considering it's Ontario, maybe even late August/early September. Many years the swamps in our area get their first blush of reds before Labor Day.

Karen - I had a bad cough that lasted from Thanksgiving to March first once. My younger son had the same thing. We called it our 'Cold from H*ll'. Son went through 3 rounds of different anti-biotics and I had none. They still both lasted that long and we both pulled the same muscle in our backs coughing. Bad, bad, bad!

Karen, I wasted 2 and half weeks of my spring break being sick. No fun at all. Had 2 days of a fever, Christmas and New Years Day, the only 2 days I had to do a lot! The moral of this? Rest! Rest! Rest!

Today is the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday here in the US. The schools are closed in our area.
Someone said on the radio... "Spend the day doing something good for mankind rather than thinking of it as a day of leisure." What do you suppose the kids will do...

I'm off to the pool - regular day for me
as I have a son getting ready to fly the nest and is being very quiet about it - limited information - not really to my liking- but I feel myself with a touch of empty nest syndrome starting - so I'm engaging in house projects - beware a women on a misson - we do get things done when the fires burn ...

for Phantom and any other interested parties:

When we moved here60 years ago, I pained the outside of the house bright blue, and the neighborhood was shocked. Now there is one white house on the block and the rest are all different colors. I like the lavender one.

In this stage of my life, I'm happy that I have health, warm clothes and firewood, money in the checking account and a clear spot to sit down or put a plate. Busy, busy, busy. I'm pretty happy about internet service and Sudoku friends, too.

Again, from yesterday - Rayray's comment to VV was well put:

"It is not DOING the chores that imparts high blood pressure. It is being RESPONSIBLE for them and NOT doing them that does that !"

With that bit of scolding wisdom, I guess I'll get up and do some housework while the girls sharpen their pencils. I think I'll be back to do the E, M, H, T puzzles later as jigsaws since the photos are so nice to savor.

Most years we get some lovely, mild weather here. This year is no exception. It is lovely out. Looks like I'll be pruning and raking again today, while my husband continues his battle with replacing the damaged deer fencing.
