Good Maen, good people. Managed to fall asleep then sleep in. Must have slept well, since I had very fast times on the kakuro this morning (well, fast times for me).

Oops. Sorry. I left here about 10 minutes ago to wait out the race. I figured 22 would have been claimed and settled long since. Should have refreshed.

Everyone else tries to hit 22, whereas I try to avoid it. Just to be different. And polite.

Just a thought on one of yesterday's threads: I don't believe Science can be at all impartial because the Scientists are just as human and agenda-oriented as the politicians. And often more narrowly focused and unaware that what sounds like firm knowledge from a colleague is really only a best More...

My goodness, guys. I labor for almost 15 minutes on an incendiary tome and no one's playing in the background?

Well, then, I shall continue... My dog's better but sometimes moving very stiffly. I thought perhaps constipation and asked the dog about cod liver oil. He suggested 1/4 cup More...

I was just yesterday going through a spelling lesson on the difference between standard British English and standard American English. The text book actually mentioned Sydney Harbour as an example of a proper noun which must be spelled with the British spelling even by the Americans. So I guess the Brits have to spell Boston Harbor without the u. It cuts both ways.

We were laughing yesterday because one of my girls got the words etymology and entomology mixed up. Not exactly a typical Sudokuland knee-slapper, but we got a good giggle out of it.

1/3 of the customers in the ice cream store bought vanilla and 2/5 of them bought chocolate. What part of the customers bought vanilla or chocolate?

Oh, good. Reinforcements have arrived.

Little Plum and I got over the non-intuitive hump of having "or" mean "and." She also wanted me to hold her hand through figuring out how many people had mustard on their hamburgers.

For some reason, many people find fractions to be extremely challenging and story problems involving fractions to be downright tortuous.

I always liked fractions and story problems and geometry, too. But sines and cosines threw me.

Why make such a fuss over a pattern that's just half a wave off? What's the practical application? That's what I never figured out.

Everyone who solves today's fraction puzzles gets a gold star and a hamburger with mustard. You can send me a private message to my inbox with your favorite condiment in the subject line! Just tell me the answer and how your arrived at it.
