Update on my Mum - she is home from respite, and struggling with doing everything herself, has got some nursing help and will get meals on wheels, but is finding it tough. Upshot of that is, she seems to be coming round more to the idea of moving down here with us sooner rather than later.

When my Dad turned 90 in 2005, we had a huge family reunion for him. It was probably the last time I saw him really happy (he had dementia and died 8 months later) but he had everyone he loved in one spot and he enjoyed every minute of it.
Angie's Grandma will love it!

Along with the happy times for some come hard times for others. My sympathy goes out to Rosemary, cp, shosho, jano, & I think a few others whose names escape me who are doing their best to care for aging parents. It's such an emotionally draining & stressful task. Hugs to all of you. XOXOXOXO

FYI-for as big as my mom's family is, that's how small is my dad's.

Kathy, I echo your sympathy and support for all the folks caring for elderly family members. It is a sometimes thankless and frustrating obligation, but those that choose to step up to the plate know they're doing the right thing. Many of us will be expecting similar help some day, and can only hope somebody will come through for us.

Elsie - I think that is what my sister-in-law had about 5 years ago. Will do some investigating and get back to you.
If so, she is now fighting fit and got over the op better than expected. I know everyone is different. She was early 50's at the time - you don't say how old your Mum is.
