Just walked to the sea-front. The sea is very unusual today. I have seen a bigger swell and bigger waves before. However it is very rough and the waves are most disturbed - swirling, foaming, and prematurely breaking in the varying wind gusts - probably between 40 and 70mph - into wild 'white More... 24/Nov/09 2:31 AM |  |

I can see it, feel it, and hear it, Rayray! 24/Nov/09 2:40 AM |  |
The gales across the UK continue unabated. Seven major bridges have now collapsed in Cumbria, disrupting road traffic so isolating large towns there. It will take months to make good the damage - and it is not over yet. 24/Nov/09 2:40 AM |  |
Oh, good. I seem to be able to post today. Finally finished painting a bathroom yesterday. Now to remove all the painter's tape, clean the room, and replace all the stuff. 24/Nov/09 2:42 AM |  |
Thanks for the beautifully described updates, Rayray, though I'm so sorry to hear of all the damage. Many families must be suffering. Wishing it to be over soon. 24/Nov/09 2:48 AM |  |
Winds of that magnitude would scare me to death, Ray. Years ago, during a storm, a huge tree branch fell against the bay window in our family room. The electricity was out so I heard it, but couldn't see it. The next morning, we saw that it entirely covered the window. Why it didn't break, I don't know. We are still using the firewood....(we also removed the tree). 24/Nov/09 2:51 AM |  |
How confused am I? I read to the bottom of the posts and couldn't understand why there wasn't the 1 or 2 or next links for me to get to the next page. 24/Nov/09 2:57 AM |  |
I guess that would be because 28 posts a page do not make! 24/Nov/09 2:58 AM |  |
Rayray - Thanks for the descriptive paragraphs of what's outside your window! - Almost blew me away!It is so sad about the bridges in Cumbria. 24/Nov/09 3:06 AM |  |
 2.22 on the dot. 24/Nov/09 3:08 AM |  |
 Was it something I said? 24/Nov/09 4:08 AM |  |
RayRay, so appreciate you ability to describe the waves and winds so we can actually see it. We are still recovering from Hurricane Rita (2005)and Hurricane Ike (2008)in our area. So,I know with such high sustained winds there is much damage and the recovery will be long and slow. My heart and prayers go out to all who are affected by this current storm. 24/Nov/09 4:14 AM |  |
Vici.... Debby took NO pictures. To see my farm, you'll have to visit here yourself. More... 24/Nov/09 4:29 AM |  |
Good MorningThanks for telling us how things are in your area Ray. Thoughts for those in Cumbria. We are now enjoying some cooler days after a very HOT weekend. 24/Nov/09 4:31 AM |  |
