I wonder why it always seems to be Romaine lettuce that is recalled? I don't remember it ever being iceberg, spinach, or any other type of leafy green.
I also always seem to have a good supply in the fridge when it happens.

Today I am in the process of making turkey soup. My grandmother was the original turkey soup maker, then my Mom tweaked the recipe a bit, and I have tweaked it a bit more. The house sure smells good right now.

Kathy could give you the ancient family recipe for turkey soup, Rage ... but then she would have to do away with you ...

Where is Lome? Google gives me only Lomé, in Togo.

Whatever else goes into turkey soup, a little curry powder will improve the result.

Here's what I found, Kathy --- and anyone else who's curious as to why it's always romaine as the culprit:
'“Romaine lettuce is particularly susceptible,” said Keith Warriner, a University of Guelph professor. “In our own research, what we found is that E. coli likes romaine lettuce out of all More...

Sarah - the spelling is L O R N E. Must admit that in small print it does look like Lome.
As Amelia said on the south coast of Victoria, Australia.

Ah, now that I know the caption says Lorne, it is easy to see it correctly. It seemed rather unlikely anyone was camping in the capital of Togo.

Thank you, Joyce, for the research results on romaine. I, too, wondered why other lettuces were ok to eat during all the romaine bans.

At least not recreational camping Sarah. I guess we have lots of misconceptions about Africa (and lots of ignorance too) but one of the enduring images of Africa that I have of African refugees living in camps with very few conveniences.

One of the events that Lorne is well known for is the Pier to Pub swim. One of my nephews usually takes part.
26/Nov/18 2:19 PM

And of course when he gets to the pub he would line up for a beer, probably a Foster's, though he would have to beat Rage to it!

In my youth Lorne was the mecca for what would be called schoolies. Camping would have been the mode of accommodation back in those days although there was also a guest house as well as the pub.
26/Nov/18 2:24 PM

I never quite made it to Lorne in those days but we did cycle down to Anglesea, which is on the Melbourne end of the Great Ocean Road. We camped of course.

There were two highlights, the beach and the Four King's Roadhouse. I wonder if it is still there today? And that is a super CP. I prefer super CP to CP+, because CP is super.
