VAL FROM BOLTON, ENGLAND - Hello! Nice of you to ask about my tennis, a subject near & dear to my heart!! I played both Monday evening & Tuesday morning. Kind of rusty & having a hard time getting my stamina back in the over 90 degree temperatures!! Have also been trying to deal with my nagging More...

5:40 P.M. Sorry I missed you KIM! Maybe I'll see you later? Five in a row, huh. Not sure I can pull that off. I figured five on a page would count - no??
Hi JAMIE! What's new in Texas?
JUDY - wonder what YOU are doing today now that the wood is all cut & stacked?
MAMACITA - How was Wash.,D.C.? Maybe I need to read Archives from yesterday?
 |  |
Good God Kim, I am not trying to be nice, it just flows naturlly from me! I have to work at being nasty, but I enjoy my work!
 |  |
Kim and Judy, Didn't mean for you to feel sorry for me, I just wanted to explain why I hate to even think about stacking wood, and hauling it. My husband died of lung cancer 22 years ago, so I'm pretty used to it by now. My first husband died in VietNam 36 years ago. So, yes I would consider More...

KATHY: The wood is all cut, but it is not all stacked! To me, that is an art form, requiring several hours of painstaking preparation and placement! What am I doing now? Shall I confess? Nursing sore muscles and napping!

JAMIE: What ARE we going to do when you return to the classroom??

What the heck is the origin of a 'cereal post'?
May I assume it means a 'serial post', which I assume would be a series of consecutive posts?
Is this an inside joke originating in a misspelling?
Any particular cereal?

I think I need a life. Spending much too much time on this More...

MARILEA: Not feeling sorry for you ... admiring your perserverance and strength! XO
 |  |
MRF: Those of us ... ahem ... who contribute an abundance of comments, especially consecutively, are considered serial posters. The 'cereal' spelling came about as a joke. A particular cereal ... hm -m ... a lot of us are (Grape) Nuts!

Hi KathyI wrote a lengthy reply to your question, but its in cyberspace somewhere, having been lost, so the trip to Wash. D.C was great, sightseeing, family gatherings, good food and drink, well behaved, well occupied children, beautiful weather, light traffic both ways and returned to a clean More...
 |  |
MAMACITA: I just have to wonder ... a little confusing ... was it the grandchildren or YOU that were well-behaved??!!
 |  |
I've just been summoned for dinner...I Shall return!!!
 |  |
The children were very well behaved, I on the other hand behaved well.....lol .Stay tuned.

JUDE - Yes, I would imagine that you WOULD want that wood stacked perfectly straight - ha ha!!
MARILEA - Chuckled about your saying your two granddaughters didn't fight with each other too much! I think one is 3, the other is ?? My granddaughters (9 & 7) can get pretty mean sometimes. Has More...

I think because boys' verbal skills often develop later than girls', they tend to resort to the physical. At a very early age, most girls have figured out how to manipulate others and how to express themselves verbally (comes in handy when marriage rolls around!). My son was a 'late' talker and More...

Aaah, a breath of fresh air. Something I just stumbled on while belting around the internet for work, that tickled me sooo much, I felt i had to share it.

Mrf From Boston area, USA; You think you need a life? I spent a couple of minutes this morning taking pictures of a stack of wood to show Judy from San Diego that I can appreciate all art - even if not Chihuly's As if I didn't have enough in my plate.

NAL: I'm not worth it?? :(
 |  |
Since I only had 3 daughters & no sons, I am only now learning about boys' behavior from observing my 5 grandsons in action!! Think maybe God knew what he was doing when he gave us only girls. Boys may not have survived; either that or I wouldn't have! Yet my daughter told me after the birth of More...

MRF FROM BOSTON AREA - that's okay, we all spend more time here than we probably should. But I can think of lots worse addictions than this!! What do you do in your other life - I mean, besides Sudoku & sharing comments with us?!
 |  |
As a parent and as a teacher, I've always thought that it was easier to deal with boys than girls. You always know where you stand with boys ... their emotions, needs, strengths, and weaknesses are all on the surface, easily discerned. You never quite know what's in the heart and mind of a girl/woman ... right, guys??

LOZA of MELBOURNE - I wrote to you in post above right after DEB FROM BRISBANE, but it got lost in the MORE section!
JODI FROM MELTON - You may be a sports nut like I am? Noticed you mentioned netball, as did ELSIE FROM STRATH the other day. Could you tell me about netball please? That's a game I'm not familiar with. Is it like what we call volleyball?

Beautiful baby.

I'm back after a nice dinner and quick clean up of the kitchen. I can only concur with Judy and Rosemary, about boys being the easier of the two s..e. xes to care for, teach, or entertain. I did such a great job of it, that I've been blessed with three grandaughters....who are a decade apart. I More...

Kathy, In the book by Michael Leunig that you ordered, did it have the poem Loza quoted? If so, what is the title. I too am interested in his work. KIM: What a talented hubby you have. I wish my husband was handy around the house, but it seems that I am the one who must fix things OR make sure to More...

Hey Jude♪♪♪, I see that you remembered the joy of grass sandwiches and I only mentioned them Once.... talk about behaving....Hmmmmm!!! Enjoy! Looks like I've caught up with my posting, think I'll just move into the shadows for awhile and test the atmostphere there! I'll be watching....

Judy, Rose, and Mamacita - maybe it is a gender thing. I would MUCH rather have a class of mostly girls - I HATE my classes that are 2/3 boys! It might be partly because I have worked almost my entire adult life with predominantly females.
The best class I ever had was the last period of the day and had 20 girls and 4 boys.
Go figure.
 |  |
I got booted for forgetting my 'forbidden word list'!! lol
I meant to say that I agreed with Judy about the ability to 'read' the s e x e s - and maybe I just prefer a mystery. But I have worked almost my entire adult life with predominantly women, so that may be part of it.

Hi Jamie, Sorta sounds like we teach what we know, huh...I'd have a fit with a class like your fav...the final year I taught, my homeroom and English class had only one girl...she caught it, and I had to run interference, but she created the situations to start. I had 6th graders that year. It was More...

I am figuring that more of the girls are keen to work in the classroom, like doing neat work etc. where as they have more personal/hormonal issues at a younger age. Also remembering back ....... oooo such a long time ...... to my school times the girls behave for male teachers but arc up More...
