If the fire started in a ditch off a highway, chances are that it was a cigarette. How horrible for the people. 26/Aug/10 2:11 AM |  |
Happy Wednesday!Eve: so sorry to hear about your friend's home. The structure can be replaced, but the loss of photos and such is tougher to reconcile...what a traumatic experience 26/Aug/10 2:19 AM |  |
That's what I was thinking, Plum. Why do people have a problem with using that ashtray in their car? 26/Aug/10 2:19 AM |  |
Plum - my guess is they don't want their cars to stink, and they're too lazy to clean the ashtray everyday. 26/Aug/10 2:22 AM |  |
Oops! Meant to say "Shannon", not Plum. Guess I'd better have more coffee! 26/Aug/10 2:33 AM |  |
It's probably because I'm disgruntled today (LOVE that word, by the way). I went on a search for safe sunscreen and came home empty-handed. So I did an online search and found a good price for Badger sunscreen thru Amazon. Badger is one of the top-rated products. California Baby is another, but it's extremely pricy. 26/Aug/10 2:35 AM |  |

I wonder. Are there any other disadvantages to smoking? BTW - Not using the ashtray doesn't keep a car from smelling! As an ex-smoker, I used to frequent a bar now and then. The morning after I couldn't get the clothes, I wore, into the washing machine fast enough. They STUNK!!! 26/Aug/10 3:02 AM |  |
 I won't kiss you? Jane, I love the face on that cat 26/Aug/10 3:06 AM |  |
Fabulous day here! And what is Jane's cat sneering at? 26/Aug/10 3:11 AM |  |
No more sneering. I had a nice lunch, and now I'm ready for a little nap. 26/Aug/10 3:16 AM |  |
hmmm, I'm doing something wrong(so what else is new?). I was using shrinkpictures.com to try shrinking photos to post in my gallery (as the one I put there is huge, and I was just trying to embed that one as my 'greet' photo)but every time, my computer jams up and kicks me offline and I have to reset my modem. 26/Aug/10 3:33 AM |  |
It is 20 minutes to 8 in the evening and it is still too hot to eat outside so supper will be late. I just tried a little dead heading the roses but I was 'glowing' sooo much it was running ibto my eyes and my T shirt looks as if I have run a marathon. 26/Aug/10 3:41 AM |  |

I shall sit in my cool salon and have a cup of tea.For those of you who were worried about our wine stock - all is now well - can't believe I ran out of red when all you can see from our garden are Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. Actually I do have a bottle of Australian Shiraz hidden away for a rainy day but today definitely isn't one. 26/Aug/10 3:45 AM |  |
Jerry, I am one of those people. I like to read food preparation books. Doing what is in those books is a whole different story. If it was meant for me to prepare food, there would not be so many convenient already prepared food places around. 26/Aug/10 4:33 AM |  |
Shannon, I am so sorry, but we have so many similarities. Scary to wonder if that is a good thing or not.We moved an old house out here to remodel. The place never had running water or electricity in it. When Man asked me where to put the food preparation room, I never answered. Until Thing I More... 26/Aug/10 4:38 AM |  |
Sorry to have adbandoned you all earlier, but family crisis arose. Darn sister took herself to the hospital early this morning, because she could not get her BP down and was having chest pain. She could not bother her EMT husband who was asleep right beside her, because she said he had such a hard More... 26/Aug/10 4:42 AM |  |
Before your wonderful concerns come rolling in and are much appreciated. My sister is fine, she should be on her way home. I have not checked in the past hour. 26/Aug/10 4:43 AM |  |
So sorry to hear about the house fires, Eve.What's for supper? Seems that all summer I have corn-on-the-cob! We have a wonderful source (a farm stand) for the freshest (daily picked), sweetest corn and it's the best! They plant their crops for a staggered season. Can't get enough of it! I'll More... 26/Aug/10 5:27 AM |  |
Fast puzzle today. Or, maybe I'm just better at it in the afternoon! 26/Aug/10 5:36 AM |  |
I know the answer to Fiona's riddle! I know! ........ women like to be on top! 26/Aug/10 6:08 AM |  |
heh,heh Judy. I came up with a couple of answers along those lines too, sent one to Fiona. But knowing my luck I figured they were probably too close to the real answer so didn't want to give anything away (like when I said that comment about 5280 and the answer had to do with a mile). Glad to hear your sister's ok Karen, isn't family fun?!? 26/Aug/10 6:30 AM |  |
Shiela, trade you some of our bumper crop of tomatoes for some of that great corn. Now I'm hungry for some of that salad.... 26/Aug/10 6:32 AM |  |
World!Interesting picture today!Eve, so sorry for your friends and their neighbors. How devastating! 26/Aug/10 6:52 AM |  |
Generally the mention of food gets this site hoppin. Corn-on-the-cob is a favorite around here, though at the moment corn is not my friend. There are wonderful people around here cutting the corn fields and stirring loads of dirt, makes rearranging dust bunnies impossible. Also, does not make the head feel good either. I am all for the salads, though have to watch Thing II and lettuce. 26/Aug/10 6:59 AM |  |
Hi all! Mulberry... never seen anything like it before. Looks like a wool sleeve or a warm rug to me... 26/Aug/10 7:00 AM |  |
Enjoying a cooler day here. Maybe the worst of summer is over. Spent some time this am at MIL's taking pictures of "ebay" items stored in her shed. She didn't feel up to venturing out under the carport/patio with me --but after talking to BIL on the phone, she suddenly made her way to More... 26/Aug/10 7:06 AM |  |
Maybe she thinks you're going to selloff the family heirlooms, lol. (The things my MIL thought were so precious and we just dumped in the garbage...a waste on so many levels) Umm, heard of many things with kids and food, but what's the issue with lettuce? 26/Aug/10 7:32 AM |  |
Shannon, these are things I have bought for resale and are stored at her place. Every so often, she thinks of something she has that I might sell, but it is not family heirlooms. She has lots of those for sure. I just wish for future generations, I could get the story behind a lot of the things she More... 26/Aug/10 7:54 AM |  |
Since, the choices I was given was great for me, tonights menu consist of ham, sweet potatoes, white corn (yes, I typed right, corn)and watermelon, maybe a salad if I get a burst of energy to stay in that room long enough. 26/Aug/10 7:57 AM |  |
Shannon, she can eat lettuce, especially if it is crisp. But lettuce leaves are hard to chew and digest and causes tummy troubles later when it is trying to return. With first child she got a piece of lettuce stuck in her throat and it stuck to the sides. It was a fun time trying to dig that little More... 26/Aug/10 8:01 AM |  |
Choking is not allowed here. It is a rule, I preach it from birth on. We have been lucky to only have two choking experience. One with each child. I do not care for that part of parenthood. 26/Aug/10 8:03 AM |  |
Oh, yuck. Well you'll have fun with corn and diapers tonight.Hazel, we did that with my grandfather who had a colorful past. We put the tape recorder on the table and just start talking. It was even better on his 'alzheimer's days' because he would be talking as if he was actually in that time and then we would get clus to prod him with when he was more alert. 26/Aug/10 8:13 AM |  |
 start=started and clus=clues. major FFS there 26/Aug/10 8:15 AM |  |
Oh, you know about tomorrows corn poopies. Yeah, that is always fun. 26/Aug/10 8:48 AM |  |
Sister is back home, hooked up to a heart monitor and tomorrow she gets the pleasure of taking a stress test.Do the medical profession know how stressful those stress test are? When Man, had his, I think he slept for three days afterwards. 26/Aug/10 8:50 AM |  |
Since, it seems I have 4 minutes to spare, before popping up again. I want to send my heart felt graditude to the women that really know how to blow. The cooler weather today was a blessing. I kept my clothes on all day and at nap time, I grabbed a sheet. It was great.Shannon, you are new and do not know about my clothes optional belief. It gets way to warm here at times. 26/Aug/10 8:59 AM |  |
Might as well keep going. 26/Aug/10 8:59 AM |  |
