Thought I'd use the avatar that Angie made for me years ago. I wonder how she and her growing family are doing?

During the summer hot days, I still wear the bun! And I still do teach but as a volunteer.

Nice to see a photo of a Monarch - we used to have many, but sadly over the years their presence has dwindles; this year we never 'saw' a one on our Butterfly Bush.

I was so intrigued with the returning commentators, I forgot to announce our first measureable snow fall - yuck, I say! But, the sooner it cycles through, the sooner I can anticipate a glorious spring!

Dave, a problem occurred a few months ago, it wiped out a lot of the comments for the pictures.

Beautiful Monarch butterfly! I hope we can save them from extinction. They are on the endangered list.

My ''butterfly bush'' has purple flowers. Sadly, I don't see Monarchs any more, either.

Years ago, I remember going to Monarch Grove in Pacific Grove, California, when the Monarchs were overwintering there. It was an amazing sight to see, enough that from a distance, the whole grove looked orange. I went back recently when they were supposed to be there. There were hardly any.

I saw a couple monarch butterflies this summer but saw them both at the same time. I too wish we saw more of them. I hope their habitat improves.

Mymare - I want to remind you that I'm from the Cleveland area. So I hope my Cleveland Indians beat your Chicago Cubs in the best of seven World Series! Whichever teams wins will end a long drought!

Joyce - Please keep your snow up your way. We were very chilly yesterday and last night, but it rained. I got about 1/2 inch in my rain gauge overnight, so I was glad they moved up the WS game by an hour.

World Series games 1 and 2 were in Clv. Now Games 3 to 5 will be in Chicago on Fri., Sat., and Sun. Then back to Cleveland for 6 and 7 if needed. The Indians won Game 1 and the Cubs won Game 2.

Go Tribe!

Morning all, lovely Monarch . Sadly if people keep spraying their shrubs and killing the caterpillars there will be no butterflies at all, don't they realise it is natures way of pruning.

Wow, lovely to see so many comments .
Joyce, enjoy your two day celebration.

Keith - our butterfly bush is also purple - didn't help attract any Monarchs - but lots of those little white ones, which we call 'cabbage' moths since when we see them we need to spray the broccoli & Kale with soap water - that's where they choose to lay their eggs & ruin those veggies!

Dottie, I'd have preferred to send that snow elsewhere too ...it moved right across the state off Lake Erie and then we had some extra help from Lake Ontario. Both lakes are still warm so when the cold air crosses = snow!!! It didn't run out of flakes to drop until it reached Syracuse, another snowy city.

Enjoyed seeing yesterday and today visits from many folks that we (I) miss seeing on the site. Keith or Peter, say hello to Linda for me. I miss her banter with, Judy, Karen and myself. Never did get a taste of her 'Greg's Private Reserve' wine though.

According to our provider, service should be restored 'in the next few days'. I shall return!
