Ed, that second post was not my doing. I was as suprised as you to see it again. This has happened a number of times to me. I post late in my day and it gets posted again anywhere from 8 to 24 hours later. Computers, don't you love 'em.....

Carol, your speculation about math in 2050 and hoping there are still forests to log hits home with me since I live in the redwoods (or what's left of them) in northern California. Virtually all the old growth is gone, and what is left is protected. It took 1000 years or so to grow, was incredibly More...

All those Judy's (Judies??) - and I never met one I didn't like! Almost 2.30pm on a late autumn afternoon here, so Sudoku's a good Sunday pm activity. Fortunately our winters never get cold enough for snow like in the picture, but recent mornings have been as low as -2C

Hey, Jude!

Re the changing of light bulbs - an oldie, which you've probably heard before:
Q: How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Only one - but the light bulb has to really want to change.

Pretty picture of a first snowfall. I love how the snow makes the trees look. However, we just left that weather and hopefully this weekend it is suppose to be in the high 80's or 90 and sunny.

To AP from India. It's a bit late to comment on the first joke of the day, but I will anyway. i don't often laugh out loud at the jokes, but I did with this one. The mental picture was just so funny. Thanks

Good MaeN all. Just got home and it's 1:40. So it's either Morning or night depending on how you look at it.
 |  |
That's 1:40am. Should have made that clear the first time.

hey Judy from Bendigo,
thanks for the light bulb joke - nice one.
I'm just back from a day outside, up your way, and the sun came out at about 2pm nice and warm. Lovely! Back to cool and grey down in Melb.
And all the Judy's I know are nice too...

to Kathy from Val. or anyone else from the US: someone said earlier that this is Memorial Day/w'end in the USA. What is the background to this? I know in Britain they have a Bank Holiday long weekend about now, but I don't know enough about US holidays. Can anyone educate me here?

LOza from Melbourne
Don't you love it that we celebrate the Queens Birthday in Australia but they don't in England - or at least not with a public holiday. I just realised today that it is only a couple of weeks away now. Yay - I can't wait.

to Veronica from Qld
Yes that's ironic isn't it!

4.47 slow, and I'll really have to tick the box 'allow incorrect moves' as it actually helped me today. But i see what someone meant by 'gloomy' for the picture - not a lot of light there!

2:40 one of the easiest puzzles. But I'd really really like to see ANYONE actually solve the puzzle twice as fast as I did.

To Loza and Victoria: we celebrate the Queen's birthday in Canada, too -- but not QEII...Queen Victoria!!!! Go figure. Commonly known as the May 24th weekend no matter what the actual date is on that Monday (it's the weekend before the US's Memorial Day weekend).

1:35 !!
my best time yet...don't know if it was the 2 hrs of walking (door-knocking for the Salvo's Red Shield Appeal0 that got the brain cells warmed up ... or the taking-the-kids-to-MacDonalds afterwards ?!?
 |  |
hey Celia, that's amazing!!
Since you're (maybe) there right now, can you elaborate on the US memorial thing?
 |  |
To Loza, Earlier you asked about U.S. Memorial Day? It's a day of remembrance for those who have died in our country's military service. Actually, on this day people visit and decorate graves of loved ones and friends also. It used to be known as Decoration Day. For a lot of people though, all it means is the beginning of summer...picnics, boating, etc.

to vlc; we are probably of a similar age, although I cannot join the 60 club yet. Is there a 55 club?
 |  |
Thanks Steph - I got it.
Do you have something as well on November 11, or is this your version of that?
