 Got it! 31/Dec/10 2:44 AM |  |
Sorry to hear about the flooding in Queensland AND California. Unfortunate how precipitation in various forms (or lack of it!) can cause so many different kinds of problems. The snowstorms in the U.S. & Europe sure ruined travel plans for many going to or from family holiday gatherings. Fiona, did your parents make plans to come visit at another time? 31/Dec/10 2:44 AM |  |
Whew, Shiela, glad it took me awhile to type my post. I wouldn't have wanted to steal your TOPP! 31/Dec/10 2:45 AM |  |
Okay, answer sent to Kathy. She may appear now to give me my recognition and reward. 31/Dec/10 2:46 AM |  |
Hi JBesoin, Apologies, I made a typo which may be misunderstood - ' inrenet' should have been 'internet'. 31/Dec/10 2:46 AM |  |
There was another hard freeze in FL while we were gone. Since we weren't here to cover up the plants in our yard, we arrived to find most of them badly damaged. Some will come back in the spring, some won't. Oh well, at least we don't make our living from them like the FL farmers do. 2010 has been a hard year for them. 31/Dec/10 2:49 AM |  |
GmaJackie, I just read your recipe for Sauerkraut Balls. They sound like something I'd like to try - If I could find someone to make them for me... 31/Dec/10 2:51 AM |  |
Neil, the major harvesting of the FL strawberry crop (and BIG Strawberry Festival in nearby Plant City) will take place soon. I will have to try black pepper on some strawberries this year - I've never heard of that before! 31/Dec/10 2:54 AM |  |

Hi Kathy, GmaJackie and all, Re the strawberry/pepper 'recipe', please remember - no sugar, cream, ice-cream or anything else. The contrast in the tastes and textures of those two ingredients is the important/interesting bit. 31/Dec/10 3:04 AM |  |
Here I am, Plum! everyone! I read in the paper this morning that Bundaberg was preparing to evacuate. I hope Nola and her family are all right. I'll read back to see if I've missed any news that may have been posted. 31/Dec/10 3:10 AM |  |
I see that Suzy talked to Nola's hubby, and, as of yesterday morning, they were all right. I hope that's still the case. It is warming up in this area. The sun is out and within the next few days it will be getting into the 50's! I More... 31/Dec/10 3:18 AM |  |

I'm one of those people who love bagpipes. Loved this one... "As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. For a moment Neil, I thought that "inrenet" was some enzyme in renet from a calf's stomach for making junkets or cheese. The big question is - 'are renet and its products halal/kosha?" 31/Dec/10 4:18 AM |  |
Some say they are halal - others say not. Some Muslims bless cheese just before they eat it, although strictly, for halal blessing should be at slaughter. They used to use pig-fat to seal cheeses, but now they use wax. 31/Dec/10 4:21 AM |  |
 When I say "they" I mean cheesemakers, not Muslims 31/Dec/10 4:22 AM |  |
It seems I inadvertently scored the "100" slot. Sorry about that - pure chance. 31/Dec/10 4:23 AM |  |
