Good afternoon to all! Either this picture was mislabelled or I just don't understand why it has this label. C'est la vie!

Sorry Jamie.
Mo, I'm glad to hear Sammie is rebounding well.
Cathy, life is a beach isn't it? I hope the damage was minimal, but now-a-days, even minimal costs big $$$.

Salon was assigned a paper on childbirth and asked his parents, "How was I born?"
His mother said, "Well dear... The stork brought you to us."
"Oh," said the boy. "Well, how did you and daddy get born?" he asked.
"Oh, the stork brought us More...

HI all! Sorry to hear you're not well Greg, keep blowing that nose! Glad Sammy's picking up Mo. Yesterday's puzzle was a difficult one and only Kathy, Judy and lonewoof came up with the correct answers which were as follows:
bow line age
gene tic king
land scape goat
dig it self
par rot ate or par don ate

Here's today's one - answers to the usual green inbox!
Four legs have I, a sturdy fellow

Fingers crossed, since all the appliances at our house are functioning properly. We've never had a dishwasher.

I've discovered it the best way to keep them squeaky clean.
Since my daughter's a nurse, I'll chime in on that situation. She works a 12 hour shift routinely, and is supposed to only have to do that 3 times a week, but (again because of short handedness) she often gets asked to do more. No doubt job performance goes down as the hours go up.

As an ex-nurse I feel one thing is often forgotten. Illness is not a 5 day 35 hour a week occupation. With CP, if my memory serves me correctly, babes tend to want to arrive at unsociable hours.
When nursing, and I spent many years in the surgical unit, you cannot say, mid operation, OK I'm off More...

Mo - I am glad to hear Sammi is improving. Hopefully, he'll be back to his usual cold, conniving self shortly! (Yeah, yeah, I know. That was a cruel thing to say, but I've been owned by cats for nearly 40 years....)

Another reminder: In a week or so, I'll be updating the cookbook for the holidays, so if you want to add a recipe or two (or more!), please post them on the Recipes page.

I am not in the medical profession but I am a fully qualified patient. I had a doctor once in Emergency who was so tired that he had to ask me three times what was my name and why was I there - scary. You will be happy to know that I survived.

GannieMo, the same thing happens in aviation. Flights are delayed for all kinds of reasons, and if you run out of 'crew duty' time half way to your destination you cannot simply close down the engines and stroll down the back saying, "That's it chaps, I'm off to the pub." And it leads More...

Thank goodness the majority of health care professionals are compassionate, caring individuals! We'd be in sorry shape if it were otherwise.

Thank you, Jane - I sometimes think my employers take advantage of my caring and compassion and loyalty to fellow workers - but I guess they couldn't if I didn't let them!

Ian - health professionals need to ask over and over nowadays what you're there for because so many people are treated for or operated on for the wrong thing. I'd rather answer the same answer over and over than be sorry later.

I have a friend who is a policewoman. She often has 12-hour days and last week an 18-hour day! Her problem? She works for two different police departments and they both schedule her on the same days. Hope I don't need her services... like shooting, dispatching, traffic control, etc.

Plum, I understand, but this poor guy was obviously out on his feet. My brother is a GP so I have some understanding and lots of sympathy for their position. Nobody should have to work the hours they do.

Mo, don't get me wrong - I have a lot of nurses in my family and I cn never question their commitment and comapssion. My huge concern in Australia is that our nursing and teaching populations are aging. I only know the stat for teaching, but the AVERAGE age of teachers is about 47. If we all More...

In the last two weeks we have had our hot water system and our pool pump die. Both are now better but my wallet is a lot lighter.
Yesterday someone ran into the back of hubby's car. It will be on it's way for repairs today and should be back in pristine condition when we return from holidays.

The estate drains got blocked today with the main effect around my flat and threatenng to immerse me in a sea of sewerage. However - promptly and efficiently unblocked by an excellent team. All a bit nervewracking (and smelly!). That's life!

Glad you didn't get flooded, Rayray.

If there's fault to be found, it isn't with the dedicated health care professionals who feel obligated to work long after they are too tired to function optimally, it is with management under staffing and overworking for the sake of profit.
