My thought for the new day (since the change over occurred while I was writing it): It ALWAYS helps to approach a problem broadly (even if briefly) before narrowing down possibilities. One's first reaction establishes a starting point for the response. If the starting point is too narrow More... 07/Jul/10 12:03 AM |  |

Sounds like fun, Vici!Plum - does your thought of the day have to do with the puzzle from yesterday? 07/Jul/10 12:08 AM |  |
The grin is I just wet my diaper!!! 07/Jul/10 12:12 AM |  |
 07/Jul/10 12:14 AM |  |
 I thought the grin was a little suspicious also. 07/Jul/10 12:17 AM |  |
Whoa, lots of bright-eyed and bushy tailed campers this morning. Okay Jamie, tell me the story behind my new love,Gus. 07/Jul/10 12:28 AM |  |
Rough day on the Tour yesterday and those cobblestones have to be killer today. Tough decision for later - Uruguay or Netherlands? 07/Jul/10 12:30 AM |  |

Long story, Shannon - in short, he was my Christmas present from my family three years ago. We try to keep him decorated for seasons/holidays - depending on how busy it gets, we are sometimes better than others. It has been fun - lots of people apparently come by regularly to check him out. 07/Jul/10 12:33 AM |  |
Sorry, Ro - it took me too long to type the last message!! 07/Jul/10 12:34 AM |  |
hmm oh well. well done Jamie and Gus. Bedtime for ittle me. 07/Jul/10 12:35 AM |  |
If interested, Shannon, I think you can go to my page and click on the link to Flickr - there are other pics of Gus posted there. Soon we will have to figure out a way to get many layers of paint off of him without killing too much grass. 07/Jul/10 12:36 AM |  |
 oh Shannon.. the Netherlands Naturally !!!!! 07/Jul/10 12:36 AM |  |
 Nite, Rolanda. 07/Jul/10 12:36 AM |  |
Off to get things done before the heat index hits triple digits with humidity in the 80's probably. 07/Jul/10 12:37 AM |  |
You notice it is the guys that determined what the grin is about. 07/Jul/10 12:53 AM |  |
Jamie - I remember in the early 60's while living in Gatesville, TX - it being 100°, cooling down to 99° and pouring down rain - it washes the sweat away. That was NOT dry heat - ugh! 07/Jul/10 12:55 AM |  |
everyone! Gus looks very spiffy, Jamie! We are into triple digits today, too. I have planned a completely "in home" chore day. Hmmmm. I seem to be sitting at the computer. lol 07/Jul/10 12:55 AM |  |
At 7 am it 50° out - it will climb to 90° today and 100 tomorrow (with Thunder bumpers). 07/Jul/10 12:57 AM |  |
That little guy is definitely sending a message... 07/Jul/10 1:00 AM |  |
jamie - yes. However, as I was musing I was thinking about how applicable it was to many aspects of life, like trying to parent through sibling squabbles and/or fighting my own tendency to procrastination in paying the bills. I found it applied to lots of areas, so I thought I'd write it down and thereby save it for posterity for when I need to give myself a dose of Really Good Advice. Like now. 07/Jul/10 1:00 AM |  |
Kathy - I don't mean to get personal, but what do you do when you're not searching the web for the "perfect" smilie? And where on earth do you FIND them? 07/Jul/10 1:09 AM |  |
Good morning to all! Back later to do the puzzles, but a quick update for you on Keith and Lynne. Had an email last night. They are still entertaining Kathitude and Rob and will be taking them up to San Fraacisco to meet up with Shosho and possibly some others. They're keeping busy after just getting home from a month's travel themselves. Kudos! 07/Jul/10 1:10 AM |  |
 How true, Plum. 07/Jul/10 1:10 AM |  |
That's not a long story, Jamie. I'll tell you a long story..and I will go check him out. But why a gorilla and "layers of paint"? Just refurbishing or has he been different colors? I love when people have yard ornaments like this. Rolanda is probably off to bed but I too was rooting for Netherlands, just really didn't want an all European final. 07/Jul/10 1:11 AM |  |
The life of Keith and Lynne is the one I had envisaged for myself when I retired, NOT going back to the classroom in order to pay bills. Oh well, someday soon. 07/Jul/10 1:12 AM |  |
Shannon - I didn't tell the long story! I will go to your page soon and write you the long story. To answer your second question - we found it easier and less expensive to paint him than to make entire wardrobes of clothes. It is hard to get a feel from a picture how much material is required to cover the guy. 07/Jul/10 1:14 AM |  |
