Rayray: loved the prose as usual.
Mamcita: Glad your Jazz is at home convalescing and doing well. You all continue in my prayers, especially as Sully's surgery approaches. Please, please More...

I agree - but it is much worse when the politicians fuel the fear and use it to their own advantage. They should be working towards making society more tolerant, not throwing more bait into the feeding frenzy.

Martha - I am a Conservative. To me a conservative conserves and believes in conservation - not enviromental extemism. There is a difference. Conservatives, believe in getting the bang for the buck - not throwing money away. They give a higher percentage of their income to charity than More...

Martha, know what you mean. There's been a couple of candidates in the past that I thought could make things a little better. Then, they said something that left me with my mouth hanging open. It seems that they'll say or do anything to get elected, not what's in the best interest of the people. I keep voting though, hoping that things will change for the best.

Eve, I'm a conservative also. But, I vote for whoever I think will do the best job. The candidates have turned politics into a career. If they had to go out and actually do the job that the average Joe does everyday, they wouldn't be able to survive.

Becky - they go to the State Capitol or DC and are changed. The two party system makes them pander to the party base, then they pander to the "middle", then they pay off whoever it was that backed them and pats them on the back - or will better their life after they leave government. I More...

Eve in Australia, the most popular conservative political party is the "Liberal - National" Coalition. There is not very much that is liberal about their political ideas - sorry, the moderates are quite liberal, but the moderates have not been in the majority and their ideals are not, More...

Martha - It is interesting that names that are put on Bills or Ideas sound so great, but when you read what they are, they are quite often the opposite of the glowing title that they hold up.

The Republican party is suppose to be the Conservative Party - however when they were in charge of More...

Ahhh, politics - sure gets the blood flowing, doesn't it.

I think I'll go outside now and hug the dog and smell the fresh air.

Just found out that one of my nephews is working in Banff for the season. He is a snow board teacher( amazing what you go to university for these days!) So if any of you Banff people come across George working in a ski shop in town say Merry Christmas from his aunt Maureen in France.

I was pootling through the country roads here in S W France yesterday afternoon and thought 'I'll listen in to local radio "Radio Bergerac 95 FM"' and what do I hear? An Australian Male singing a song about 'The Dog who stole my hat!'. I had never heard it before and I have to wonder just what a french person would make of it!

Hello Mo - when I was walking through a village in
S W France not far from Puy L'Eveque, I heard a Bee Gees song on a radio through an open window. Of course, although we claim them as ours, my friend claimed them as English because they were born there and emigrated to Oz. I'm not sure if I know the song you mention though.

Also when we were in the middle of the Colca Canyon in Peru last year there was a well known Aussie Group singing on a radio there. It's a small world!
