I thought that 1948 was also year of the Rat, I'm one and I was born in '48.

Ah! The Chinese New Year Parade pictures start to appear on the Sudoku site! Quite a few have been on the Jigsaw Site!

This is a Rat year 2008. So 1948 - 60 years ago - was also a Rat year. The Chinese New Year Cycle is 5 cycles of 12 years. So a very special birthdya to you!

There are floats of all the 12 animals among my parade pictures. Everyone likes to see their own sign go by ... so this is the Rooster Float for the Rooster babies!

This was a fun puzzle to solve.

Roosters float? Who knew.

Anne- The Chinese new year does not start on January 1st. If it did, I would have been born in the Year Of The Horse" (my first love), instead, I was born in the Year Of The Sheep.

I was born in the year of the rat too, 1960. Those years seem wrong!

Maybe I have read the comment wrong. This a rooster float in the year of the rat. The rooster years are those that are written there.

I was born in January 1948 (prior to the Chinese New Year) so I'm not a Rat. I'm the one before - unfortunately I think it's the Pig. Not sure which is worse Rat or Pig? Pig or Rat? Great choice.

I'm a Monkey - but then my friends could tell you that anyway .

CynB, The one before a Rat is a Boar. Much more impressive than an ordinary pig.

Snap Deb, I'm a 1960 Rat as well! Very slow today, had to resort to using possibilities.

If you want to see the Rat from the parade go to the Crossword site. It's the prize for solving the crossword on the 6th of June! There are a few photos that haven't turned up on sudoku in the archives, etc of the crossword site!

The comment does list the Rooster Years belonging to the Rooster Float. I didn't put down the actual date of Chinese New Year in each of those years - that would have been way too long. However that information is easily findable on Wikipedia. Sometimes CNY happens in January but never before the 21st.
