Today's rather interesting tough puzzle is the topic of a new blog page.

A link to this page will be available through the link in the upper right column, directly under 'Check out the Sudoku Blog'.

The new page should be available about 1 hour after the new day here at sudoku.com.au.

4:51 Maen Awesome glacier -- another place I'd like to visit (in summer time) :)
 |  |
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrr ...
 |  |
mAen! 9:30. Again I'm having trouble grasping the scale in this picture. Is that a seal next to a wheel track, or drifts of snow/ice between two mountains? I suspect the latter :)

6.29 at 7:40am Oklahoma time. Have a wonderful day!
 |  |
Simpler than yesterday.
 |  |
11:49 with a guess. Wonder how many priests have visited that glacier?
 |  |

Kate - you took the words right out of my mouth!!! I hate being cold.

6.12, even easier than the medium today...
 |  |
How big is that thing, anyway? Looks like a snowmobile track going across it.
 |  |
jyrki, I'm like you. My first thought as it appeared was that there was a seal, but after looking closer, it looks more like a shadow on the dark side of an outcrop of some type. Still new to the game, so time isn't an issue for me.
 |  |
Good mAen everyone. I prefer to look at as tropical waters with an crocodile just under the water with his eyes looking at you.
 |  |
mAen - makes me want to draw in the cold white stuff - can you make snow castles - like sand castles at the beach?

Good morning. The glacier is the ziggidy line running horizontally across the photo in between the tops of two mountains. Our aircraft was flying somewhere between 5000 feet and 10,000 feet. When I first submitted the photo I thought it would be a fairly challenging jigsaw, but I realised that More...

maen all! jan, yes!! but we called them snow forts when i was a kid. the city i grew up in would make huge piles on all the street corners and we would carve multiple tunnels in them. a dangerous as it seems i don't recall any of them collapsing enough to injure anyone of us 'beeline boys' as we called our proud army. my mom warmed my tail for playing in them when we were caught though.

Hi, I'm new to this site.
Jyrki, what you saw first is exactly what I saw first: a seal by the tracks! BTW, does 9:30 mean it took you only 9 min and 30 sec to finish the tough puzzle? How'd you do that? Or is that the timestamp when you wrote your comment?
 |  |
Sorry, I meant 'hard' puzzle.

RE: Friday's picture...
Yeah, he's a full registered Arabian... Polish bred though. Was born w/the white already. :o)

Everybody is correct. That's a snow-gator sneaking up on a baby seal who was trying to catch a penguin making fast tracks across the glacier.
 |  |

That must have been an exciting airplane ride!
 |  |
Very funny jeb, but I agree.
 |  |
Very easy 'hard.' I've flown over the North Pole area but have never been south of the equator! Would like to visit NZ.
 |  |
I recently read an article that says our brain is wired to see faces, even when they are not there (virgin Mary in a grilled cheese sandwich, for example). Even animal faces, I guess. I certainly saw a seal until I enlarged the pic on the jigsaw page.

Debby, it was a once-in-a-lifetime Christmas present from my loving family who knew of my fascination with Antarctica. It was one of several a commercial flights to Antarctica run by Qantas each summer. Four hours down, four hours over the continent and four hours back to Sydney. I am a very lucky man.

hard to get a perspective on this picture...my time is forgettable! Ian, I really enjoy your photographs, and hope that there are more to come.
 |  |

Good afternoon to all! More snow.
 |  |
Hi AJ - welcome to the wacky world of Sudoku. Yes, if someone writes 9:30 it means they had the timer on and finished in 9 minutes, 30 seconds. Wish I could do the hard one that fast - I'm lucky if I'm below 20 minutes!
 |  |
Should have written Florida! (Frorida is our 51st state?) No wonder it takes me so long to do the puzzels!
 |  |

G'day Greg - no snow here

Qantas, an exceptional airline with an exceptional 'Q' not followed by 'U'.
 |  |
Kevin there is no u in Qantas because it is not a word as such. It is initials of Queensland And Northern Territories Air Service
 |  |
QANTAS is an acronym: Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited

7:59 - beautiful photo again Ian! Looking forward to seeing it appear as a Hard jigsaw!
 |  |
Good maeN all! 9:32 Ian you truly are a lucky and well traveled man. We have really enjoyed all of your photos.
 |  |

Pam, PJ Thank you. It gives me pleasure to be able to share my photos with people who enjoy them.

8:17 for me...
