Is Harry Carey (sp?) still around (the TRUE voice of the Cubs)? I'm sad to say that I think he is more likely to be six feet under by now.

Well if it is a repeat, it's worth repeating! We all have our share of delays in life. I think it's Mother nature's way of making us slow down and revel in the beauty of nature and this planet Earth that we share.

I believe Harry Caray died in 1998. If he was alive he would be in his 90s and barely coherent. Of course he was barely coherent when he was alive :)

maen all! alas, harry has passed. yet, his namesake bar & grill is going strong game or no game. i was fortunate to catch a cubbie game this september(they were actually still in it)as part of a wedding weekend festivity in chicagoland.

I was living in Chicagoland, in 1998 when Harry Carey died; but I was on vacation in Aruba on the day he died. Sitting at the bar that February day it was in the low 80s F in Aruba. They had the TV tuned to WGN-TV Chicago, and they were showing 'man in the street' interviews about Harry's passing. More...

Thanks for the information on Harry Carey. Too late to mourn, I guess. To me it felt like one should never sing "take me out to the ball park" without Harry's lead. I subsrcibed to Cubs' channel on cable-tv for one season while in graduate school :-)
