Could they be stylized lions? I mean the guys supporting the crest.

Interesting that the coat of arms contains a two tailed lion.
That is also the emblem of the Czech Republic. On a tour, we heard the legend that the King's lion had it's tail split by a sword of an enemy in battle.

all. Back in S Carolina after four days on the road - 2200 miles, 3000 km.
Darmstadt, the home of EAS mission control, the equivalent of NASA's Houston. We had the good fortune of being a neighbor of an EAS engineer while living in Germany.

Morning All, we are now down in sunny Melbourne (in between showers).
Our son works as a researcher at the Darmstadt University (that's not its correct name but you know what I mean) hence all the photos of Darmstadt.
