I am shocked by the tone of the discussion and have two words for you, girls. Eduardo Verástegui. Oh. My. God. Maybe the most beautiful man on the planet. Just saw Bella -- a perfect little movie. Only complaint is you only see Eduardo's (I'll never remember his last name) in the flashback More...

Make that "you only see Eduardo's face." I must have been swooning as I was writing.

Totally agree about BDT. Made Things They Lost in the Fire totally worth the watch.

Also agree about Old Men, Andre. Billy says there's a point to the movie, but I sure didn't get it. Maybe I dozed through the salient moments.

Have to disagree about Jack Black. I think he's a comic genius. First saw him in High Fidelity, and he saved that movie. Without him, it would have been 2 hours of whining and dribble.

Sorry. Make that drivel. "Dribble" is what's on my chin after looking at Eduardo's page at imdb.com.

I liked HF..the British can do whining and drivelling very well...

I meant to refer to the book by Nick Hornby. I think the tone of the movie reflected the book which was VERY Brit.

I think it's John Cusack I had trouble with. I used to adore him, but after seeing him interviewed, I was put off by his sense of superiority and now have trouble buying into his characters.

Okay I'm getting shallow as I have no idea of his acting ability but yes he - Eduardo Verástegui is a little bit tasty, eyes that would slice through butter...

You're not shallow. Eduardo worked almost exclusively in Mexican television, then co-founded a production company with the writer/director of Bella, the first or one of two movies, I believe, that have had international distribution. Mary, I fear you'll find it twee (I remembered your word!), but perhaps the many shots of Eduardo chopping cilantro will make up for it.

What a pity to hear that about JC. I thought he was kinda cute.
But does EV clean the chopping board after? If so...he's mine, ladies!!!!

No kidding. I saw him but I didn't call him. Damn. Dirty or not, he's yours fair and square. Even though I DID discover him, so to speak.

Wait a moment. I've not been impeached, and there's a little thing called the Executive Order. By such Order I declare Eduardo mine. Hah! Go find your own!

Oh, all right already. You've been bawling now for over a day. We'll share. The guy needs to work during the week (we need to see him on screen again!), so we'll alternate weekends, I get Thanksgiving, and you can have Christmas. There! Better now?

August Rush considered silly by most critics, but I loved it. I could look at that little boy smile forever, and JRM .... Too gorgeous! The boy can sing as well. Sorry, Mary.

Thanx for the sympathy, Rolanda.
Does he still have his to-die-for Irish accent, Terry?
27/Jun/08 11:03 AM
 |  |
He spoke in his own voice in August Rush, but according to reviews I've been reading about Children, his educated English accent is very uneven in the film (who cares, as long as his eyes and cheekbones stay the same!). Weak story telling, great cinematography is the unanimous opinion of US More...

To answer your original question, "Oh, yes, Mary, [in August Rush] it was a darlin' voice."

oh, oh Terry.........I am such a sucker for accents...
My daughter (24)has just informed me that Children is good and well worth watching... she appreciated the free tix

As you say, so long as I can drool over the eyes and cheekbones....

Watched The Woodsman at last. It was on and off so fast I missed it at the pics. Enjoyed KB acting and thought it was an interesting take on a difficult subject. The offence was obviously at the lesser end of the scale, but the moment of realisation for the character seemed genuine. Not a monster, More...

LOVED Get Smart. I don't know if anyone who was not raised on the tv show would enjoy it as much. It was updated and included the now obligatory car and/or aeroplane chases, but I felt it kept to the spirit of the original. It had a sweetness about it, you laughed WITH Max, not at him. Steve Carell More...
