difficult puzzles

OK I have been doing Sudoku puzzles for 2-3 years. I have progressed to the point where I can do the puzzles at the hard level, I can use and utilize x-wings and swordfish but am unable to solve the puzzles listed as difficult on this site. Also, I can solve the NY times 3 star puzzles but not the 4 star ones. I also can spot triads and occasionally quads but can't get past the point where I am. Can anyone help me. george
