No one wants a boring homepage. Text is cheap, what you want are PICS!
But how to do it? And what on earth is Flickr?
Flickr is a photo-sharing website, allowing you to store and display your photos for free. Registering is easy, and then loading your photos onto Flickr is reasonably quick.
If you already have a Flickr account, and have your photos displayed, then it is very easy to show one of them on your homepage. All you do is copy the URL of your picture, and paste it in the box marked 'Flickr Photo'.
The URL (Universal Resource Locator, if you wanted to know) is found here:
Just click 'Check Flickr and YouTube codes' and the picture should appear. If it doesn't, then your picture is most likely in a private area of Flickr, and you need to move it to a public area. If a photo is in a public area of Flickr, then you will not have to be logged in to your Flickr account to view the photo.
What if I have my photos stored somewhere else?
A more general way of adding photos to your homepage is through the image button, shown here.

Press this button, and you will get to add the details of your image

In the box marked 'Image URL', you put the full url of the image. In the above example, it is:
http://www.google.com.au/intl/en_au/images/logo.gif
Once you have put the image url in, the image will appear in the 'Preview' box. Click the 'Update' button and you are done!
OK,OK, now I want video!
YouTube makes it really easy to post videos on your site. Just go to the page of the YouTube video that you want, and find the 'Embed' code.

Copy this code, and then paste it in the box marked 'YouTube Video'. Click 'Check Flickr and YouTube codes' and the video will appear.
Adding a Widget (only for supporting members)
If you want
total flexibility, then add a widget - so you can have new content daily without changing a thing.
Widgets allow you to get content from another site and place it on your page. An example of a widget is one that displays todays strip from your favourite comic strip. Here is an example of how to add the cartoon 'Dilbert' widget.
Go to
http://widget.dilbert.com
- Following the directions on the page, click the 'CLick Here for Todays Strip' button.
- Click the 'Grab It' button.
- Click the 'Embed' button.
- You will then be shown code to embed in your page. Copy And Paste the code to the 'Widget Code' textbox on your page. You're Done!
To test that you have copied the widget code correctly, click the 'Test Widget' button.
There are many places to find widgets. Here is just a small sample:
Note: As widgets are from other sites, we cannot help integrate them with sudoku.com.au or debug them if they do not work.
