Elsie I have had two pituitary tumours removed, both via the nose. The worst part is the damage to the optic nerves, a lot of pressure is put on the nerves when they force the tumour out. I would have prefered they had removed it via a cranial hole. If they go in via the nose she will wake up in More...

Hi Elsie, I checked with my sister (couldn't find s-i-l today, she was out) and my sister tells me that her tumour was originally diagnosed as the Pituitary adenoma (she had some but not all the symptoms - diminished visual field and short term memory loss) but closer to the op they realised hers More...

Elsie - just reading Lynda's post reminded me - my s-i-l had her op through a cranial hole rather than nasal and they told her that was preferable. However, I suppose you don't get a choice, they get to it the best way they can.

hi there, in response to your question - one of my friends had a tumour on her pituary gland, discovered when she was 19. Treatment through her nose and mouth to remove it was unsuccessful and she went through a lot of radiotherapy. She went on to have three children, despite the radiotherapy and More...
