Little ones just LOVE to help with the dishes! Is it because we don't encourage them whole-heartedly as babies that when they become teens and really could be a great help, doing dishes is the last thing they'd prefer?
Or... did they just wise-up and find out doing dishes is just not that much fun???

Good maEN all.
Shiela, it is not that much fun!
Have a gecko above my head trying to eat what I do not want to know, so signing off before he drops it on my head.

When my three were in high school, they had one day a week when they cooked dinner and the others did the dishes. Now they have grown up I find that one of them always did the dishes, while the others cooked. Oh well... at least two of them can cook.

My teen told me he did not like doing dishes.

I told him what my Dad told me at 10; Dad also told me his father had told him the following in the 1930's, and to someday, in turn, tell my own son:

"Son, you think you are sick of watching the sink magically fill with dishes and More...

No leaks. Burl did a great installation job.

I turned off the space heater overnight and damp has crept back up from the saturated subfloor. I'm running the heater again today, but since heat rises and my utensil and silverware drawers are benefiting from the heater more than the flooring More...

Oh, that Glinda ... her "innocent" what's the difference between a sweet potato and a yam question from yesterday got me looking up the answer this a.m., and, in the process, I found an absolutely yummy and undeniably fattening dessert recipe I want to try (though it has nothing to do More...

Plum, it must have really been soaked under your sink! Usually, even with a humidifier, things dry out almost immediately at our house in the winter. Better keep the heat on it! Can you direct the heat downwards with a piece of cardboard or something?

The floor of the cabinet is in the way! I need to direct the heat and air circulation UNDER the cabinet, but it's a sealed unit.

Any way to access the underneath from below? I take it that there is no bacement under this area. If so, I see your problem. Is there a crawl space? Not a fun adventure and you'd be heating the whole outdoors... maybe a heat lamp directed at the area from below? Just don't burn your house down!

Good Maen to all. That is a darling child. Plum, it sounds like you have some real problems there. What about your insurance? Did you check with your agent? It would be worth a try.

Now you've got me looking up the difference between a yam and a sweet potato...
Looks as if we are not the only one's wondering. There seems to be several sites answering that very question. Looks as if these vegetables are not even related, but the answer seems to be that most people in the US More...

Bit of a starchy day today. Thickening rain may turn into sleet or slushy snow. I'm slouching, abulia has beset me.

Plum - Jaime and I are going to a wine-tasting party next week wherein each guest brings a favorite bottle of wine and an hors d'oeuvre to accompany it. I'd originally planned to bring a cab, but now I believe I'll bring a dessert wine (perhaps a Muscat or Sauterne) so that I can bring a dessert - More...
