One of the things I like about you, Karen, you hate having to exert the energy to scroll to the bottom of the page. Energy conservation is in vogue, here.

Happy May Day, y'all. Happy Birthday, Bean!
Today is also the g/f-nurse's birthday, so I'm taking her to hear/see the Glenn Miller Orchestra which is appearing locally today. (Anyone remember them?)
She's driving, of course, since I'm still More...

Well, my goodness. Darwen Jim right above me. How are you doing Jim? It's been awhile since you've shown yourself. Have you been lurking? Good to see you make a post!

Captain J, enjoy the performance. I didn't know the Glenn Miller Orchestra was still performing. I still have a number of the original LP's. We danced to it as well and considered it to be TLC music. TLC? Tender Loving Care.

The May 9 issue of Time magazine has a commentary on America's anglophiles by Joe Queenan. I found that the article pretty well sums up my feelings about the royal wedding. Link below.
A word of caution: Mr Queenan is a humorist. If you do not have a good sense of humor, don't care for sarcasm More...

Good morning from OZ. Thank your for that link Greg. What a fantastic balancing rock. I then enjoyed the trip around NS. Brought back many memories of some of the places we visited about 10 years ago.

Top stone Left - looks like a lion head in Pharaoh's head gear.

Bean - seems like we were celebrating your birthday yesterday - maybe you were and we still are. Enjoy - when as the last time you did a real "May Pole Dance" - don't count those pole dances in between - not the same thing.

Welcome to the Merry Month of May.

HalT - thank you for the link to that article, I found it interesting that he would judge an entire nation on it's Royalty and tradition. It is similar to the rest of the world judging the US on what we see out of Hollywood or on TV (eg Bridezillas, Jerry Springer etc) - I know that the people of More...

One final word about the wedding - apparently lip-readers deciphered what Will said to Kate at the altar, it was - 'Wasn't this meant to be a small family affair?'
02/May/11 9:08 AM
Colo Jim, that dog was amazing!
02/May/11 10:07 AM
HalT.... I loved that article! The author was right about the kind of people that truly make Britain great.
02/May/11 10:10 AM
Cyn- I'm afraid you missed the point of the commentary. Queenan was poking fun at some US Amercians for their adoration (I believe he mentioned 'worship' at one point) of all things British. The whole article was meant to be satirical.

Neil- I'd be interested it your take on the piece.

The Glenn Miller Orchestra provided a very entertaining program. The arrangements were virtually identical to the originals. G/f and I both loved the show. Chattanooga Choo Choo, anyone?
02/May/11 10:37 AM
My favorite was 'Little Brown Jug' Cap'n.
02/May/11 11:02 AM
and they played (and sang) that one too, HalT.

Is the wedding stuff over, is it safe to come out yet?

Baptizing an Irishman.........

An Irishman is stumbling through the woods, totally drunk, when he comes upon a preacher baptizing people in the river.
He proceeds to walk into the water and subsequently bumps into the preacher...

Probably not yet Peter. We were just talking about that... well, close to that, anyway.

Geez, Peter! You type fast! (Ain't cut-n-paste great?)

I'll leave it to you to turn the page.
