Sincerest thanks to everyone who has sent their best wishes to Liz today. I knew you all would cheer things on for me and I was pretty concerned when I too couldn't get on this morning. All fine now though. I have heard from Liz's husband and surgery started at about 0900 (our time) and will be a More...

Tree Shelia, I am a college lecturer and had a student with a cochlear implant awhile back. It was great! He still needed a sign language interpreter in class due to all the noises of the other students, but for a one-on-one conversation, it was wonderful. His speech was easy to understand too, he said it really improved when he got the implant.

2:28 Good Afternoon everyone! I was going to write good morning but it has taken me 3+ hours to get to page 3 after I did the puzzle this morning. What's happening, Gath?

Tree Sheila, YEA!!! I knew you and your daughter would make it a great success. Now for the fun part, the one where she discovers another world out there! My student became more gabby, it took us a while to calm him down! Luckily another teacher took the brunt of his joy!

Now, now Rayray, we Americans have an interesting way of mutilating the English language! Critter = creature, vittles = victuals, missus = mistress. Don't fret, we have even more mangled English to play with! See I even ended the sentence with a preposition!

Hey, Mamacita we need another bulletin on Sully. How is he? Has he gotten well enough to drive you crazy? Men are like that, docile when they're really ill, then when they start to mend, that's when the complaining begins!

On behalf of all the men in this [English-speaking] world who refer to their wives as "the missus," I offer an alternative theory to "mistress."

Summer has arrived and with it comes the summer storms. There are 4 storm cells floating around Brisbane at the moment. We had one last night - thunder and lightning - the wind started and then down came the rain for about 2 seconds. End of storm at my place.
