Phase III of our renovation - wood flooring & painting in our family room and office - starts at the end of the month. We've already begun to move things (lots of books) out of the two rooms. The interior designer has suggested we weed out a few books & paintings, ...but personally, that's not going to happen!

Picked up 6 bags of key lime cookies and sending them off to my Portland son - limited edition and just luck me found them - picked up the lemon but Scott said the have those in Portland.

I tend to be a purest when it comes to my Oreo cookies - but key lime from the freezer are 💃🏼happy dance.

Good for you, Shiela--don't let the designer rule the roost ... they'll try.

Day three of: we're fairly sure we have a bat in our dining room. Hubby spotted it flying on Friday night but couldn't catch it, so he woke me up (two a.m.) to tell me all about it. Creature is likely tucked up More...

We have just started two weeks of insanity. Elijah decided that he is doing high school football. Azariah is doing his first year of flag football. Both practices start today. Fortunately at different times. Then there are a couple of things I had scheduled.

I think I mentioned some time ago that we have a family of five-lined skinks living under our deck. A couple of days ago, a medium sized one was patrolling the deck when a hawk swooped down, grabbed the skink, and was gone. All in about five seconds. It was amazing.

There's certainly an animal theme here today. But I'll take our resident bat any time over the rat snake at Hal's place.

My fondness for bats does not include having one flying around the house. Although, I agree with Cathy....better a bat than a snake.
I suspect the best way to get rid of it is to just leave a window open. Hopefully, it will find it's way out.

That's skink Greg, not skunk. Specifically, the plestiodon fasciatus.
And I like having them around. They eat nasty bugs, like roaches.

A few years ago I was out on the deck when there was a shower of feathers from above me. I looked up in time to see a hawk flying away with a rather large dove. It caught the dove in flight.

We have a resident ground hog. He doesn't catch anything....just lumbers along to the neighbor's garden.

We had a mamma rabbit and 2 babies under our deck this year. They also found their way to the neighbor's garden. He says he feels like he's opened a grocery store.
