What an unusual tractor!!! My guess is that it was used for logging.

That would be neat to see.

Now that I take a closer look at the wheels, I say my first guess was wrong. No traction.

Here is my last offering for the week. Rumor has it that Canuk Greg has cooked up something special for tomorrow.

Take the given words, and by moving a single letter from one word to the other, make a pair of synonyms, or near synonyms. For example, given: Boast - Hip, move the 's' from More...

Good morning, everyone.

Good morning people of the world.

Still waiting for summer to arrive. This has been the rainiest, wettest, soggiest, mildewyest, floodingest, land-slidingest season I can ever remember. I'm considering building an ark, except I'm not sure how to convert cubits to feet and inches.

Those wheels are huge!
22/Aug/13 1:11 AM
A little damp are you, Captain?
22/Aug/13 1:12 AM
A cubit is 45.72 centimeters, I believe. Get building before it's too late.
22/Aug/13 1:13 AM
everyone1? How redundant.

Serena, I enjoyed the country-capital puzzle yesterday. Really had to think!
22/Aug/13 1:15 AM
I will be out side this morning, have some iris to plant, gotta do it while it is cool.
22/Aug/13 1:16 AM
Other sources say a cubit is about 18 inches, or half a yard. That shouldn't be too hard to work with, Cap'n.
22/Aug/13 1:16 AM
Right time?
22/Aug/13 1:45 AM
Maybe so.

There is a group on our town called the Roots of Motive Power. http://www.mendocinomuseum.org/roots-of-motive-power-photography-display.html I live about 3 blocks away from the museum. When they have a ''play day,'' I can hear steam chuffing and whistles blowing all day long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMCLizPX1S8

I would like to offer the sincerest of apologies to my Australian friends for the shooting death of the young baseball player in Oklahoma. Not all Americans are that ignorant and thoughtless. I hope the young men involved in this are punished to the fullest extent.

Tractors like that usually had metal bars, called lugs, cross-ways on the wheel tread (like on tank treads). They were great for traction (the tractors worked fields, before internal combustion tractors became available), but were terrible on pavement. When I was young (many moons ago) there used to More...

Just came back from a steam and tractor show this past weekend. The tractors had lugs. One steam tractor stood nearly 20 feet tall.

I'm glad that lonewoof explained the antique tractor so well. Now we know what it did and how.

Harry has been watching the Little League Baseball World Series. The finals are this weekend.

Good afternoon to all! Well there's a piece of history. That actually looks like the kind of tractors they used when they were laying railroad lines.
22/Aug/13 3:40 AM
Well Serena, I hope it's something 'special' for tomorrow, but it will be fun and challenging!
22/Aug/13 3:42 AM
We came in from planting, it is getting hot. Where did my 80's and rain days go. I don't care for 90's and full sun days.
22/Aug/13 3:43 AM
Lonewolf, thanks for the explanation about the tractor. Just for you:

I am sitting by my phone awaiting for a call from the pharmacy for my dad's medication and from the vet for the kittens' medication.
22/Aug/13 4:16 AM
I don't know who to believe. The pharmacist said that she called the doctor's office last week and this. The doctor's office says that they usually respond quickly if they get the call. I've been calling both this week!
22/Aug/13 4:17 AM
Now to harangue the vet for the anti-diarrhea medication for the kittens. Until they get their sh!t together, they're staying in the kitchen where I can mop the floor easily. Better than having to scrub the carpet and the sofa cushions.
