a few years ago we had a pet snake called Houdini... for obvious reasons. Freaked out a few visitors who gingerly agreed to looking at him in his tank and then we noticed he'd escaped yet again. They didn't stay very long after that.

Good mAen, good people. Took Skye to the doctor this morning for a cold that wasn't acting like a cold. As soon as she said 'strep' I knew why I have been so tired and achy. I signed myself up for a throats swab too. We are both on antibiotics. I had blamed allergies for the congestion, dry air for More...

I have been out to lunch and came home to price and load up my car with yard sale items and tables. I have a 7 AM set up and didn't want to do all that in the morning. I have a Toyota RAV4 and got everything in by putting the back seats More...

I had my first strep throat during the winter, Plum. Worst sore throat, ever! Thank heavens for antibiotics!

Burl used to breed fancy long haired hamsters, a few of which we found far from their cages. Never named one Houdini. Great name choice.
28/Apr/18 6:58 AM
When I say ''first strep throat ever'', I mean I never had one as a kid. I remember having tonsilitis once, but no strep.

We had a hampster lost in the house for a few days when the kids were little. He finally showed up in the linen closet. Quite the shock as I was putting away the towels.

Thank you, Kathy.

I am not a morning person, either. Burl, on the other hand, normally wakes up around 5 am and goes to sleep about 9 pm. This week he is part of a team firing a wood kiln which needs to be stoked 24 hours a day for 4 solid days. So what shift/time slot does he volunteer More...

Morning all, Houdini looks so cute.
Have been having a giggle over the escaped pets comments.

We moved to this house and Burl wanted to get back into raising rodents. There was already evidence of mouse occupation so I said no. Then Burl took the kids to a swap meet and they came home with fancy mice. The next day I found the mice in amongst my kitchen towels and I said NO and they had to go off to a new home.

I rarely put my foot down. That was one time I did.

Plum ,hope you and Skye feel better soon.
I'm one of those morning people, I take my coffee and sit outside as dawn is breaking and see the glow of the sun as it rises.

Your foot, Plum.
28/Apr/18 7:32 AM
Um, no, HalT. However, Burl DID once find a hamster in the bedroom in the dark in the middle of the night that way. By literally putting his foot down on it. Makes getting back to sleep after a bathroom break a little bit harder than usual.

I think a vision of ''Burl breeding fancy hamsters'' is burned on my eyeballs ...
28/Apr/18 8:11 AM
I used to have hamsters for my classroom pets, besides a bunny, budgies, and a green snake. The snake was the sweetest little guy that I rented from the science center for a semester. When our big burly football fullback size custodian walked into the room and saw the snake draped around my neck, he scampered back so quickly and was peering at me from behind the door!
28/Apr/18 8:40 AM
When I couldn't get some kid to volunteer to care for the hamster over the school breaks I would have to take them home. One got out of his cage numerous times. Once my cat, Nemmy, brought him back and unceremoniously dumped him on my foot. Another time, a neighbor told me there was a hamster by More...

I named the three, Aramis, Athos, and Porthos, the three musketeers! And when we got the fourth little guy, of course, he was named D'Artagnan!
