Since we're all dressed up with no one to probe, Batty, should we look for another victim ... er, patient? Any takers?

I had to make a couple of calls before I forgot, that happens often around here, my forgetting.
28/Sep/10 2:53 AM
Then I remembered that I needed to wash the towels, had to do that before I forgot.
28/Sep/10 2:54 AM
Remembering about the towels I need to put them in the dryer, before I forget, again.
28/Sep/10 2:55 AM
I am back, got the towels in the dryer finally. Looked to the time, decided that maybe Kevin and I needed breakfast. Made it to the kitchen before the phone rang.

It was Harry, he is at his sisters today. They are going to a SIL's up in Morro Bay. They both want to escape some of the heat in southern California. Of course see the SIL and nephew.

About colonoscopies - the current medical guidelines say you should get your first colonoscopy by age 50. I went for mine at age 52 - just a routine exam? I found out that I already had stage 2 colon cancer! If I had not had that exam in 2003 I would be dead today! Immediately after getting my exam More...

The prep for the exam is unpleasant in that you must cleanse your system and the solution you drink is pretty vile. The exam itself is a breeze! The drugs they use today are marvelous - and legal! Best high ever!!

Guess I had better read the posts for today, I see Glenn is talking colonoscopies.
28/Sep/10 3:16 AM
I have had two rounds of chemotherapy, 28 radiation treatments, kidney damage from my treatments, anemia from my treatments, five surgeries (four of which with 18" abdominal incisions), two bowel resections, and a colostomy this past January. You do NOT want to experience any of this! Get your @sses to a gastroenterologist and get checked!
28/Sep/10 3:18 AM
I am deadly serious about this - no joking at all...
28/Sep/10 3:19 AM
Glenn, I had my first colonoscopie at 35, polyps were found while testing for something else. I know just how bad having colon cancer can be, a dear friend had this cancer.
28/Sep/10 3:30 AM
Sorry for all you have been through, Glenn. We were making light of the procedure, but, I agree, it is a VITAL test. Yes, the prep is unpleasant, but it's one day out of your life. Put it perspective. I actually added a powdered lemonade to the drink, and it wasn't as bad as it has been in the More...

Good afternoon to all! Interesting study Dino.
28/Sep/10 4:05 AM
I see that some of our normally quiet people were performing some medical procedures earlier. Too bad they didn't have an orderly come in and clean up some of the mud they left behind. Wait a minute, that's not mud! Goodness me, ORDERLY!
28/Sep/10 4:09 AM
Joking aside, I agree 100% with everything Glenn has pointed out. I have had three colonoscopies performed, mt first one at age 49. Thankfully they have found nothing life-threatening to date. The procedure may be intimidating to some, and the preparation is not a welcome exercise, but the necessity for these exams is critical.

The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

As someone who's family has multiple gastro issues I also trumpet every thing Glenn says. I am on the high frequency rotation for colonoscopies because of family history. It really isn't that bad. As Kathy said, the worst part is drinking the solution....hold your nose and get over it. You can More...

And Kathy, you still have to have fun with it. We have a lot of gallows humor. TMI alert: I was just telling Karen my sister no longer has her bowel and they actually sewed her rectum shut. And honey had testicular cancer. So common irreverent phrases in my family are: "She's no More...
