Like Jerry, we've been through many power outages and water is usually the biggest problem. I grew up in northern Wisconsin and I don't remember that we ever had a power outage that lasted more then an hour or so and never in the winter, but here the possibility is forecast with the weather.

While I sat in the reception area of my doctor's office, a woman rolled an elderly man in a wheelchair into the room. As she went to the receptionist's desk, the man sat there, alone and silent. Just as I was thinking I should make small talk with him, a little boy More...

As I was nursing my baby, my cousin's six-year-old daughter, Krissy, came into the room. Never having seen anyone breast feed before, she was intrigued and full of all kinds of questions about what I was doing. After mulling over my answers, she remarked, 'My mom has some of those, but I don't think she knows how to use them.'

Out bicycling one day with my eight-year-old granddaughter, Carolyn, I got a little wistful. 'In ten years,' I said, 'you'll want to be with your friends and you won't go walking, biking, and swimming with me like you do now. Carolyn shrugged. 'In ten years you'll be too old to do all those things anyway.'

Get well, Arthur!
Cathy, sorry to hear that Arthur is back at the vet. Not the best way to get a reprieve from doing the fluids for a couple of days, though.

1:53 Hello to all. Lovely smiling faces.

Thought for the Day:

All the statistics in the world can't measure the warmth of a smile.

Glenn, I hope you have a wonderful trip. New Orleans has special memories for me. Lovely people there with wicked senses of humour.

God's Problem Now.

His wife's graveside service was just barely finished, when there was a tremendous bolt of lightning, followed by a massive clap of thunder, accompanied by even more lightning and thunder rumbling in the distance. The little, old man looked at the pastor and calmly said, 'Well, she's there."

Small question: Do you think that prisoners should have access to the internet whilst serving their sentences? I have just been reading about how some of the prisoners here in England have been using Facebook to frighten victims.
12/Feb/10 3:39 AM
It seems our prison service likes to reward its inmates with privileges others outside of the system cannot afford.

Beautiful couple.

.12" in my rain gauge this morning, for a total of 2.84" so far for February. Not a hint of snow. It's now 44°F outside, and will probably creep up into the middle 50s in the afternoon.

Good afternoon to all! Another mother and child reunion, and they look very happy about it!

Thanks, Shiela, and ain't it the truth, Judy!
Just got back from the optometrists where I was treated to quite a prolonged high-pitched shrieking from a preschooler. Turns out the poor kid thought the doctor would have to remove her eye from the socket to examine it. Yikes. After kid and mom More...

Orianne, how nice to 'see' you on the site and posting again. Happy birthday, as it is today here in Ottawa. Sorry to hear you and André have been going through some rough times.

André, Internet for prisoners? Absolutely not. We don't allow that here in Canada. Prisoners can use a computer, but not a computer with Internet access. What would be the point of sending someone to prison for Internet luring of children and then giving them the ability to do the same thing from their jail cells. Makes no sense to me.

Okay, I'm in one of those moods today, so bear with me.....

Many people love a good play on words, but many others can't stand the punishment.

What do you call a pun sandwich? A punini.

An electrician claimed that his truck was a volts wagon.

Police were called to a daycare where a three-year-old was charged with resisting a rest.

On the way back from a Cub Scout meeting, my grandson innocently said to my son, 'Dad, I know babies come from mommies' tummies, but how do they get there in the first place?' After my son hemmed and hawed awhile, my grandson finally spoke up in disgust, 'You don't have to make up something, Dad. It's okay if you don't know the answer.'

HI all! Only Plum and CG found the waterfall answer yesterday, then Plum didn't believe me and said it was a poor riddle...anyway we've had a real bucketload of snow here today - doesn't happen often, but it's pretty for the now. Tomorrow morning it won't be so pretty when I have to drive to work.

Morning all,I'm back at work today.
We found a replacement for our fridge. Suprisingly the new one will only cost about $200 more than we paid for the old one 15 years ago - same manufacturer, size etc. Best of all we can pay $20 for them to take the old one away.
