About the 'Apples and Cheese' posts yesterday...

This combination is probably from Eastern Europe - France, Holland, Denmark, Portugal and the UK.

I think that the reason that they go well together, is that both apples and cheese have a mixture of sweet and savoury tastes - the More...

OK then, Judy. I meant 'Western'.
17/Oct/13 12:50 AM
And if we heard you speaking we'd definitely know which spelling you'd use!
17/Oct/13 12:54 AM
Blue cheeses & fresh pears are also a nice combination!
17/Oct/13 12:57 AM
My favorite salad is:
Fresh pears
Blue cheese crumbles
Dried tart cherries or cranberries
Broken Pecans
Salad greens (not iceburg lettuce)
Blue cheese dressing

I wonder where they were for the bird to get that close to the car.
17/Oct/13 1:13 AM
Good thing, Neil! Looks like we are alone today!
17/Oct/13 1:14 AM
I tried apples and cheese once. I didn't care for it. I'm not a big flavor mixer.
17/Oct/13 1:14 AM
But then Serena has arrived while we weren't looking!

I'm pretty quiet in my approach. People keep telling me I should wear bells.

It looks a bit like a turkey to me and they are not the brightest of birds. My Mom (Mum, for Neil) has turkeys who are so - shall we say 'stupid' - that they 'fight' their own reflections in the solar panels on the side of her house.

Hmmm....
17/Oct/13 1:21 AM
22 for Keith?

Yesssss!

Each group of three definitions describes three words that are spelled the same, except for one letter (each group describes a different set of words). Example: king, ring, wing.

1. competition; satisfied; the circumstances surrounding an act or event

2. to rain hard; sullen; a More...

I wont be able to pop very often for a week or so, work will be to say the least.......
17/Oct/13 1:31 AM
everyone!
Sheila, I make a similar salad, but with sliced strawberries, sliced almonds and a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. I use baby spinach leaves for the greens. Along with the dried cranberries and blue cheese, it's a tasty combo.
17/Oct/13 1:46 AM
Good morning people of the world.
17/Oct/13 1:49 AM
That's too funny! I was with another friend, Sheila, last night. She has complained many a time that I misspell her name as ''Shiela''. Now I've done it to you! I must concentrate on getting my Shielas/Sheilas straight!
17/Oct/13 1:50 AM
National Boss's Day
and
National Feral Cat Day
17/Oct/13 1:53 AM
Sheila is the Oz spelling (and a bit derogatory in some ways) and Shiela is the correct spelling from that name's etymology - Irish/Welsh.

On the ''birdbrain'' subject, for a while, I lived out of town, and had chickens, ducks, geese, and peacocks. The male peacock, every Spring, attacked his reflection in the hubcaps enough to make his geek bloody.
17/Oct/13 2:20 AM
Oops, spellchecker got me. Geek should be beek.
17/Oct/13 2:22 AM
On 14/Oct/13, I posted, with tongue-in-cheek, the following:

Here's three semordnilaps that everyone should get:
1. Sarge's dog, ___ Preminger
2. Little Bo ___, sound baby chickens make
3. ____ Karenina, ____ and the King

The answers are: Otto, Peep, and Anna.

Greg was the only one to answer and he got 3/3.
17/Oct/13 2:24 AM
Er ... beak. I should quit while I'm behind.
17/Oct/13 2:26 AM
Got Jerry's 33.
Where are you, Jerry????
17/Oct/13 2:27 AM
I didn't see it, Hal! I knew those!
17/Oct/13 2:27 AM
I am certainly not one to correct someone else, especially in spelling, but shouldn't it be beak?
17/Oct/13 2:28 AM
And where are you today, Keith?
17/Oct/13 2:28 AM
Oh, good you caught it.
17/Oct/13 2:29 AM
And where are we??
