The only providence in Canada we haven't been to.

Evidently, Sacky is having a refreshing sleep in this morning.
I can't imagine how exhausted she was when they got to Jane's house around 12:30 am.

The answers to yesterday's poozle: newsagent, crocodile, collision, classroom, encourage, hairbrush, otherwise, closeness, lightning, margarine.

In honor of Sacky's visit, winners Judy, Mads, Joyce, lonewood, Silvergal, Serena, and Sarah receive this delightful Down-Under treat! Enjoy!

And for today......

My first is in horse but not in pony.
My second is in coyote but not in jackal.
My third is in shrew and also in vole.
My fourth is in panda but not in bear.
My last is in baboon but not in monkey.
What am I?

Answers to my ''No monkey business!'' inbox, please.

Serena - what took you to you to Newfoundland? Or are you a Canadian who moved to the US?

huh? ...well, you get the idea, Serena
02/Oct/14 12:48 AM

Serena, Was this Gander or St John's??
I have flown into both getting ready to cross the Atlantic.
02/Oct/14 1:41 AM
Good afternoon to all! Good old Newfoundland. A great place to visit and explore.
02/Oct/14 1:42 AM
I forgot to do Kathy's puzzle yesterday after coping it to work on. My bad!

Serena, I've not seen a puzzle like this before. I don't know what to do with it.
02/Oct/14 3:53 AM
No-one was getting post trip honey-do chores done.

Kathy, I may have to pass on my down-under treat to my DIL as she, my son and two grandchildren arrive today to visit for a week. I have a small jar of Vegemite in the pantry just for her, it will be dumped in the wheelie bin when they go home
02/Oct/14 5:18 AM
Good morning,
02/Oct/14 6:03 AM
A small jar of Vegemite goes a long way in our house.
02/Oct/14 6:04 AM
But it is great comfort food, particularly when you're not feeling well and don't really feel like eating very much.
02/Oct/14 6:07 AM
And then, it has to be eaten as my grandfather used to prepare it.
02/Oct/14 6:08 AM
Hot buttered toast with the crusts cut off, little scrape of Vegemite, and the toast cut into 4 triangles - yum. If I wasn't fasting for a blood test..........
02/Oct/14 6:11 AM
Silvergal, it's a Kathy puzzle. I haven't done it yet. Read through it a few times and see if that helps.
02/Oct/14 6:36 AM
Sue, we were in Argentia but we went to St John's for major shopping trips.
02/Oct/14 6:38 AM
I'm surprised it's still page 1 as I wait for my dinner to finish simmering. Teriyaki chicken and Chinese noodles...sounds good to me! And cucumber and tomato salad and corn off the cob (cut it off Sunday).
02/Oct/14 7:23 AM
Nope, still don't understand. I'm one of these annoying people who need literal instructions. I'll have to wait and see the answer tomorrow and work backwards.
02/Oct/14 7:29 AM
Silvergal, it's an elimination thing, you're looking for a letter which is in the first worker but not in the 2nd word.
02/Oct/14 9:53 AM

Silvergal, Kathy is asking you to determine a word from her clues. 'My first' refers to the first letter, 'My second' to the second letter and so on. The answer has 5 letters.
The first letter you need is in HORSE, a further clue is that it is not in PONY so that leaves HRSE...........and so on.
Hope this helps.
02/Oct/14 9:54 AM
The discovered letters, running down, in order, give the answer.
