Karen, I've seen children go through a gazillion dry erase markers on their individual white board. I know that at my school to learn how to do smart small jots shows what kind of thinking goes on in the child's mind as he/she is reading. It makes them more thoughtful of their reading. But the first set given to the teachers for this purpose goes out by the first couple of months.

And that's for reading, wait until math and spelling come up. Also the kids forget or don't cap sufficiently to prevent drying out.

HalT, I knew I didnt need to do the page turning...

Everybody. Summer heat and humidity have returned here also. Along with the scattered thunderstorms, the humidity is now at the level where it's oppressive according to the weather guessers. And it's supposed to stay this way for the foreseeable future. I guess the dog days of summer have finally arrived.

June - Shouldn't you still be sleeping?

A bit of a setback in my therapy session today. I'll see how it goes over the weekend, but I may be back to the chiropractor next week.
22/Aug/14 6:14 AM
However, just a few more to develop and I'll have a weekend puzzle for you.

Karen, try art supply stores like Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Saw PACKS of construction paper at one of them the other day. You'll pay more than Gall-mart or Target, but less than the office stores. Plus, there are usually coupons available.
22/Aug/14 6:24 AM
Greg, sorry to hear about the setback. Hope you turn the corner soon.
22/Aug/14 6:25 AM
1:31. Good morning everyone.
22/Aug/14 6:29 AM
And second day of 10th grade behind her. She's overall satisfied with her teachers and schedule, so that's a good start.

Silverteen choiced in to a magnet program at a school which is neither in walking distance, and since we're not zoned for that school, no buses go between it and our area. I've got a great carpool arrangement with a friend in the next neighborhood: she takes in the morning, I pick up in the afternoon.
22/Aug/14 6:43 AM
So carpool today was a zoo like yesterday - it usually is until things settle down. I was stopped short of a side street behind the school. I'm not going to be the idiot who blocks it as I've seen others do. Some guy behind me in a big ol' SUV starts blowing his horn.
22/Aug/14 6:44 AM
He's in the left lane trying to cut behind me, and wants ME to move up so he can turn into that side street. There was plenty of room in front of me for him to turn. What he wasn't smart enough to realize was that if I moved up, he wouldn't be able to turn anyway - the side street isn't that wide, and I would've blocked his turn.
22/Aug/14 6:47 AM
He rolled down his window yelling for me to move up, that he was trying to turn. I yelled back 'Turn in front of me, there's plenty of room. You're telling me to block the street, and I'm not going to.' Should I encounter him again, I WILL move up as he requests... and he'll see that he won't be able to turn. Idiot.

Morning all, that bird is waiting for someone to clean a fish.

Silvergal, some people think they own the road and they should have sole use of it. Grrr!
22/Aug/14 7:34 AM
They're wrong. *I* own the road! LOL! Silverguy has said (in so many words) he'd like to own a beater car when he gets old and crotchety so he can run into other cars without worrying about his own. I like how he thinks, which is why I married the guy.
22/Aug/14 9:11 AM
Dottie, I went back to bed and had more sleep. Greg, sorry about the set back. When you feel better do not try to do things too soon. (says someone who needs to take that advice)

Meet the teacher night. I was not impressed, but not making any judgment calls, because it is a busy night for teachers, trying to meet every student and make them feel welcomed and parents, plus make sure all cards are filled out and they know how each child is going to get home on Monday. I do not miss Meet the teacher night.

Peter ... Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
22/Aug/14 12:35 PM
Apparently, I am not the only person having problems with construction paper. In both rooms, the pile was very small.
In two cities, we have gone to Wal-Mart, HEB, Target, Dollar General, Hobby Robby, Michael's, and another place, I think Dollar Tree, nothing. Next either an office store or More...

When M's teacher asked her if she was ready to come to school, M answered no. The teacher asked if she will be ready to come to school on Monday, again M answered No.

After today, and please do not repeat this post to me, Monday is not getting here fast enough.
22/Aug/14 12:43 PM
Canuk Greg, please take care.
22/Aug/14 12:46 PM
Hang in there, Greg.
22/Aug/14 1:03 PM
But as for me, the old clock on the wall says that this old man should go to bed. Night all.
22/Aug/14 1:04 PM
good night world
