G'day mates, here's today's daffynition:
Inflation: n. Cutting money in half without damaging the paper.

...And here's today's factoid:
'The' is the most used word in the English language.

1:08 - a very straight-forward 1 through to 9 tonight.

I can't believe it - Murray's just got the break and is serving for the first set, after he was on the ropes on his last service game!
09/Jul/12 12:03 AM
And the crowd goes wild!!! Murray takes the first set!!
09/Jul/12 12:10 AM
Good morning people of the world.

09/Jul/12 12:12 AM
SCUD??? Can you define which SCUD is honoured (?) on SCUD Day?
09/Jul/12 12:18 AM
Savior the Comic, Unplug the Drama Day.
09/Jul/12 12:21 AM
I think she meant 'savor' not 'savior'?
09/Jul/12 12:35 AM
Oh, yeah, HalT. Thanks.
09/Jul/12 12:40 AM

I was thinking 'Savior the Comic' was some guy with a beard who did stand up.

The answer(s) to yesterday's poozle: SOCKS are $6 because all $6 items begin and end with 'S'
OR, An 'S' is worth $2, any vowel is worth $1, so SOCKS would cost $5.

Evidently, only the ladies know anything about socks. Shosho, Pam, Sarah, and Mads are all crowned for a day!

And for today....

What do the following words have in common?

Karen, I like SCUD day! There were days that I wanted to shout that to my little drama queens. You have those in elementary schools. Seems that anyone with huge emotional issues and very little vocabulary to express said emotions are inclined to be drama queens. Sigh, I won't miss those!
09/Jul/12 1:32 AM
Ahh, Shosho, we have our share of drama queens on this site.
09/Jul/12 1:37 AM
Nah, you're just a little expressive, Hal.

The answer to PICTURE PUZZLE #12: a bed rope tightener! Long before box springs were invented, ropes were used to support a mattress. Captain J has actual memories of this type of bed from an old log cabin his parents owned. Pam also got the correct answer by utilizing the clue I gave. She More...

But first...
09/Jul/12 1:51 AM
PICTURE PUZZLE #13 has been posted. Hint: Of all the people who responded to yesterday's puzzle, Pam is probably most likely to solve this one.
09/Jul/12 1:54 AM
...and now back to Wimbledon watching...
09/Jul/12 1:54 AM
Oops! Unless I tell you who responded to yesterday's puzzle, my hint won't be of much help. So here is the list: Pam, Captain J, Keith, Heidi, Kathy (MD), Shosho and Karen.
09/Jul/12 1:57 AM
Two very funny comments today, Kathy(MD).
You've reached your limit!
How's that for drama?
09/Jul/12 2:04 AM
Slept in.
09/Jul/12 2:05 AM
My gosh, Jane.
I can't even guess at what kind of catagory to put that thing (#13) in. Does it belong in that horrible room? Is it a tool? Does it go on a fire arm thingy?
I do know if I came across it, it would probably be tossed in the trash bin.

Speaking of our hoarding habits, last night Man was watching some kind of Pawn show. She had a gun, that I think was good for nothing, because of how it was made. I think their excuse was it was dangerous. Yes, you read that right, go figure, a gun that was dangerous.
Anyway, she threw away a More...
09/Jul/12 2:16 AM
So did I.

09/Jul/12 2:18 AM
Easy 1-9 puzzle, with just enough challenge to be fun.
09/Jul/12 2:19 AM
The cool front hasn't arrived here yet. It's still miserably hot.
09/Jul/12 2:19 AM
We had a nice cooling rain, yesterday evening, which I thank myself for. My car was filthy and Man told me to just get a $4 rinse off, I rebelled and got the $6 wash. The rain was guessed to show up on Sunday, but we had a nice rain yesterday afternoon, that lasted throughout the evening.
This More...
09/Jul/12 2:36 AM
No matter what I'd do I wouldn't get any rain!
09/Jul/12 2:51 AM
Out here we don't have the four seasons like you do back east. We have two - wet and dry season! Your winter to spring would be our wet season (the only time we'd get rain between November to March). Then the rest of the year would be the dry season.
09/Jul/12 2:53 AM
Mother Nature did do a few booboos like giving us rain once during summer last year which threw us into a panic. And we had a 7 year period with no rain at all back in the 70's to 80's.
09/Jul/12 2:55 AM
You're right Jane, you have me stumped! I have absolutely no idea of what it is. Belonging to a farm??? You're addressing a city bred girl here! I'm lucky to know that eggs come from chickens and milk from cows. Although theoretically, I figure eggs are laid by birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. And throw in some arthropods for good measure.
09/Jul/12 2:58 AM
Karen, you do have warm rain? Here when it rains we freeze! We always bundle up and try to stay warm. But that's because we get it just in winter. Always wondered what it would be like to dance in the rain without freezing your buns off!
09/Jul/12 3:01 AM
Shall I go for it?
