Eagles are being banded from youngest to oldest. Youngest a male, middle eagle a female...oldest to be banded next!

1:57 Good evening one and all!

Oldest eagle chick is a female. They are so cool - and docile right now. They are being handled without gloves.
22/Apr/11 12:13 AM
Incredibly sluggish today! Hopefully brain will wake up before DIL and grandie arrive tonight!
22/Apr/11 12:13 AM
Good morning to all.

Are they going to be returned to the wild, Vici? If so won't the handling mess them up? Well guess if the banding is relatively quick, it won't be too bad. But the human scent left on them will scare the willies out of them!

Yesterday at the marsh, I spotted mallards, American coots and widgeons, red-winged blackbird, red-tailed hawk. Missed the cinnamon teal and egrets because they were on the other side of the waters, I was told later.

At the Eagle's nest.... "Happy Birthday, Allison"???

Got the gate key to the marsh because I have helped with the bird observations. Complained that I missed quite a bit observing outside the fence. So now no more complaints, I have to get myself in and take more notes!

Whoa now that was fast! I am still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes and getting swooshed along past Keith's number!

At the nest: Rather precarious looking at the top of that tree for that eagle handler.... Hope a branch doesn't break!
My sister fell out of the top of a tall pine tree once when the branch she was standing on gave way. She hit every branch on the way down, so was brused, but not broken. Didn't drop her binoculars, either!

All. Tried to go to the eagle site but it wouldn't let me in
22/Apr/11 12:28 AM
Try again, O-H... I had that happen, too, but got in right away on the next try.
22/Apr/11 12:29 AM
I tried to get in the second time and it worked. The person doing the banding was through and finishing up at the nest. They showed him starting his decent. He obviously is well trained in climbing. How did they keep the adults away during the process?
22/Apr/11 12:40 AM
I wonder where mom & pop eagle are?
22/Apr/11 12:42 AM
Looks like we had the same question, Old Hickory.
22/Apr/11 12:42 AM
Can you imagine going up and down from that nest?
I'd say he was quite skilled at climbing!
22/Apr/11 12:44 AM
Thanks, Phantom. I like eggs for breakfast, but if I had my "druthers", I'd like them prepared a little differently.

Good luck with the wisdom teeth extraction, CG! At your (our) age, it's dangerous to relinquish ANY amount of wisdom!

Karen, thanks for explaining what is going on with that noggin of yours! You've dropped bits and pieces of information, but I'm pretty sure most people here were as curious about your condition as I was! Love and prayers to you.

Good luck to CG and Karen today.

Question: Hubby and I have been golfing once a year with three of hubby's old schoolmates and their wives (all live 100 miles from us) for the last three years. It's been a fun couples' thing with two foursomes - we do different combinations of hubby and wife shots until the green and then we all More...

When is Karen's surgery? Did i miss the announcement?

I couldn't get on the Norfolk eagle site, but I am signed up for chat. They said the parents were circling overhead during the banding and didn't seem More...

Karen's surgery is TODAY? How did I miss that???
Karen, and sending every good vibe I can!
22/Apr/11 1:27 AM
Best wishes for your surgery, Karen. Hope everything goes well and you have a quick recovery.
