It is a slow day in the East Texas town of Madisonville.
It is raining, and the little town looks totally deserted.
Times are tough, everybody is in debt and everybody lives on credit.
On this particular day a rich tourist from the East is driving through town.

He More...

Would be funny if not so close to the truth.

But is there anyone to blame, or were we all just caught up in a a sort of cyclone... consumers, investors, politicians, bankers and everyone else?

22/Jun/09 10:10 AM
Good question.
Seems there are plenty to blame. But ultimately aren't we all to blame? After all we put many of those people in the positions they hold.

Happy Fathers Day to the topsider Dads. Aussie Father's Day is not until September.

Thanks for channeling, CynB, but I now believe, this child is comfortable and will just stay right where hesheit is for the rest of my life. This condition, does have its benefits and I am not really expected to do anything. So I guess I will just stay this way.
22/Jun/09 12:08 PM
Why look at thumbs when you can look at the real thing ............. ?
22/Jun/09 12:08 PM
Nah.... I just wanted a baseline for comparison. I figure most men must have pretty short thumbs, or I have a long thumb.

We were chatting about our relationships and decided to amaze our men by wearing a black leather bra, stiletto heels and a mask over our eyes. We agreed to meet More...

Heidi,

The application of its principles are probably most USEFUL in practical areas such as medicine and agriculture, but the principles have already been elucidated in other ways More...

Ian,
The physical basis of 'free-will' is a complex issue that crosses disciplines. I always think of it in terms of a difference in attitude between the Buddists/Orientals and the Judaeo-Christian/Western cultures. The latter have fear of determined fate, whilst the former are more accepting of More...

Rayray: If the tiger were genetically modified to be meek, would it still be a tiger?

As far as the acceptance of fate is concerned, I would be careful not to confuse a culture ideal with cultural reality. After all, western Europeans have a huge cultural ideal in "Thou shalt not More...

Ian:
Yes. It would still be a tiger, but a new, domesticated variety. It would probably not survive in the wild - but the original variant isn't anyway.
I agree with your second comment. There are many expressions of denial of fate in our culture. "Fighting cancer" (by will power) More...

Hello everyone, if we had this beautiful tiger tamed could we afford to feed it. LOL I agree Rayray it might give you a little bit more time but the cancer wins out in the long run. Happy Fathers day to all the Dads that are celebrating today.
